Sounds like an ideal place to take the wife on her anniversary. Pud - "Come on, let's go visit the memorial to dead irish crooks" Mrs Pud - "You can read me like a book Puddy wuddy!" <jumpingintotheairhighfive>
Never knew that.. I looked up Jules Verne Park and it said it was in Tampa... Was in Havana the last time I went to Cuba .. everywhere just tributes to Ernesto "Lynch" Guevera!
To be fair rebs, Medro's right 1) I wouldn't really be interested ... only interested in the Cuban reveloution stuff! 2) I'm down the south side of the island this time.
My bro told me that in Grand Cayman they have proper chippys and not of that fake american fries ****e. I wonder if they know what a cowboy supper is?
Well I have thought of it now. Victor Hugo Park. in other irrelevant Cuba news. Che Guevara's daughter was at the All Ireland final the other week. Med Dog might not care how heroic revolutionaries are revered in other nations. But maybe someone will.
A delegation of them came to Derry as well. Interesting stuff. Must be weird to see a mural of your old man on the other side of the planet.
I agree with Grove - can't really imagine going on holiday over Christmas. Would much prefer to stay at home. Still, each to their own and all that. On the issue of visiting memrials etc., one of my mates mother in laws celebrates her 80th next month and hey're taking her to visit Auschwitz. That'll be a nice cheery birthday
I agree too. A huge part of Christmas is being with as many of the family as possible. It's the best thing about it. I did the away at Christmas quite a few years ago. Went away before it and came back on Christmas Eve. See even missing the build up, it was the strangest thing. Had to do all my shopping in November. Never again. Unless the whole family were coming with me.
re the concentration camp - went to the Belsen one and it was fantastic. Very eerie coz there's no birds chirping near it. Just complete silence. Great experience though.
Totally agree - have 6 nieces and nephews ranging from 2 - 14 so now it's absolutely brilliant. I used to be quite cynical about it (unusual for someone on the GC forum I know) but the little ones change all that.
Without a doubt. We've a new baby in the family this year too, first one in eight years. First great grandkid for my mum and dad. It's gonna be even more special than normal.
