Surely, if this boy is a protestant from the west of Scotland and he knows that, it's a bit silly using a derogatory term for his own religious creed?

The placard clearly refers to those proud Northern Irish Protestants that were at the game.
 
I thought the police only allowed Northern Irish fans of both Glasgow teams to travel to home games to avoid trouble on the ferries - is this wrong?
