That is far too technical for me to get my head round but I will just take it as read. You learn something new everyday. It's almost made Luv's thread worthwhile.... almost.

Yeah me telling him to post a thread isn't turning out to be one of my finest moments.

I'm here to educate the masses.

I subscribe to a brilliant YouTube channel called The Slow Mo Guys and recently they filmed a bird blinking. That's what our inner eye would have done X generations ago

Skip to 5 mins. Edit: just realised it's the thumbnail for the video too

If we ban eating meat, it'll be the thin end of the wedge and how long before we're told to stop eating fruit and veg?

Yep, like climate change and the danger of plastics.

I'm going to bbq my side of cow on a carbon based

Like when I got told to eat 5 pieces of fruit a day only to realise a few years back it's really 7.

Just guess work init...just like they try to tell us how noisy the Big Bang was...just like they predict what a million miles into Space is like based on extrapolation and coincidences.

A wise old man once told me

'if I filled a cup of water from the sea and decided to use that to guesswork what fills the rest of the sea...I would think it's nothing but water and we all know that's not true'

The 5 a day is bollox, it's just a way to get people to eat more fruit and veg (rightly so), but there's no set amount at all. In some countries it's 10 a day.

Meat generated from cells taken from a chicken that continues to live.

A problem with meat grown in lab is recreating the structure. So you can recreate mince but not steak.... at the moment.

We got Vegetarian teeth?

I'm willing to learn...if you can convince me then I'll become a vegetarian.

I thought we had teeth fit for both

Nature made us omnivores - those two pointed teeth in the front of your gob are your Canines, designed for tearing meat.

Thing is, we have a choice now, which our ancestors didn’t. We can survive perfectly well without turning animals into just another resource to be exploited.

I’m with Luv on this though; eating meat troubles my conscience. But not eating it troubles my tastebuds and my stomach.

For me the whole eat this and don't eat that has to be put into context.

As a kid I don't think there was an issue with meat. Having grown up in a semi rural area where meat was literally field to plate.

Now we have the whole meat is bad for you if you eat too much. Well yeah because it's full of antibiotics and steroids and **** being mass produced

Not just meat either. As a chappatti eating foreign bloke. We literally used to get the wheat from my maternal grandfathers fields and had it milled into flour. Now it's in bags where it's been bleached and genetically modified (higher gluten content as a result) etc

Take pure orange juice. Nothing like fresh squeezed orange juice. And yes from my maternal grandfather orchard. Now it's in boxes where the oranges have been picked years ago, made into powder and frozen. Then they add all kinds if crap to it when it's made back into liquid form

Meat is great, apart from battery chicken. That **** is like eating the slop from the bottom of a canteen dustbin.

People having a £3.50 Sunday roast chicken dinner, scrapping over who gets the deformed drumsticks and thighs, who managed to get the breast made up of under developed muscle fibre, bleach and dirty water.
