My team now for Saturday ..................Heaton(c)................ Foster.....J.Wilson...McManus.....Bryan ..........Skuse........Elliott/Morris..... Adomah.......Davies......Woolford .................Baldock............... Davies playing just in the hole behind Baldock. Elliott if fit Morris if not. Woolford gives better defensive protection to Bryan otherwise I would of gone Anderson if Cunningham fit.
Not bad rod but think del will go up there for the draw, you going? Also I wouldn't put wooly in the team until Cunninghams back as he benefits greatly when Gregs playing
Woolford not for me,gone of the boil, not playing to the standards of early season which he needs to do to get a place.
This is a good much needed signing - a bit of leadership on the pitch. I would play him with Fontaine who (despite a bad patch of form) is our best centre half (would worry about lack of pace if McManus/Carey together?) I can't see another centre-half coming in because we are still paying for Elokobi
Yes you are right, but we do need to spend some real money on a young and excellent centre back, one who can lead us into the future. It is soooooo important, as this season (as a microcosm of the past 5 years) tells us. Its not enough just to go out and buy posterboy forwards, because any successful team is built upon its defence. Nobody would have been so impressed with Iniesta and Xavi without Pujol behind them, because they would not have won anything nb This is a post which I have regularly offered since Wembley, usually ending in a rant about setting our youth academy along continental lines. I will henceforth just re-publish the same thread until they actually do something solid about it ! SL - buy us a proper defence !
What happens if we play a team with quick forwards. **** me Carey has been left for dead against the past few hence why Taylor played on the right against Leicester to offer an outlet for Louis as he can't get down the wing like a normal RB Wilson will benefit with MacManus also Fontaine could find that he has the pressure taken off him now so he can play like he used too.
Rod I think the experience of carey and mac will steady the ship, both have bags of experience. Carey reads the game so well it will makeup for his slight loss of pace. Remember Louis has never been the quickest defender. I would say man for man he will not make the consistent mistakes Fontaine is making. Carey has not become a bad defender because he has lost a half yard of pace.
Its a good opportunity to put Wilson to the test and see if he is as good as some people think. Personally i am not convinced. I dont believe he is another Caulker, and that is what we need
