Actually there is a lot of difference. James grew up with the constant background of intimidation, unionist supremacy and general lack of local government investment due to the area's nationalist majority, things that come with the territory of being a catholic brought up in Derry. You're going to have a hard time finding Catholics that grew up in these areas of deliberate deprivation that wont be bitter. Gazza has no ties or experiences with either side of the NI divide. There's a fair bit of barely concealed bigotry on this thread. Fair enough if you dont rate him as a footballer but there are quite a few more sinister agendas revealing themselves inn this thread at the same time

I'd sell McClean Not because of his refusal to wear a poppy or his support of the IRA. Because he's not very good. He always worked extremely hard despite stupid fans booing him, credit to him for that. I have no grudge against him whatsoever and I hope he has a successful career away from us
