but it's simply a more sensible way of doing business in League One. The players aren't worth millions of pounds so it's not worth tying them to long contracts (many of them were free initially) and the bargaining strength is often with the clubs (unlike in the Premiership). It also allows more flexibility, you want to be able to shed players if you get promoted or if better ones become available.
There is no story here really, yes there's a risk of losing players you want to keep but the benefits outweigh the negatives.
