Would bit e bit too late now, the damage is done (if it is true). They could.. as silver mentioned.. dock Hamilton's + Button's points.
Highly doubt it, the damage has already been done by the lack of focus by the FIA. Seems they were focusing on RBR too much this season they forgot about the other top teams!
We discussed it way back when but it makes sense to raise an objection when your driver is hanging onto a WDC lead and you've given up on being able to develop a functioning version yourself.
Ferrari have played smart this year, they have just focused on making their own car and not look for grey areas and then put the FIA focus on their rivals. No setbacks apart from the wind tunnel for them. Alonso: "I have a great idea... how about we don't look for grey areas that might set us back weeks?" Stefano: "That might be crazy enough to work Alonso, they would never see it coming by the likes of us!"
Flavio Briatore ‏@BriatoreFlavio: Gp jappone la McLaren dovrà modificare alettone sarà ' meno competitiva *Translate* Gp Japan McLaren will have to change to ' wing less competitive Don't know how legit that twitter account is though, Forza can you clarify?
Hahaha⦠Briatore playing at being a Ferrari wing man again ? (sic) â I do not believe a revision of the testing procedure will result in problems for any team in the short term. However, it seems standard procedure for the FIA to take more notice of Ferrari's complaints than those of others⦠Apologies to Forza; but I think even he will inwardly acknowledge this.
My only problem is that McLaren have been testing it since Australia and have been using it since Hungary all the way until Singapore until RBR did the same thing and now it's being questioned. FIA have dropped the ball again because of entirely focusing on RBR's "grey areas" and missing god knows what on others...
Autosprint: Ferrari would be to advise the FIA. But denies Here we go again, back to talk about flessibli ailerons . But this time not piegherebbero towards the bottom , as two years ago, but all ' back . speak of forewings McLaren and Red Bull . And if the rumor is confirmed, would give an explanation of the technical superiority of the MP4-28 , now "imitated" by the team of Adrian Newey . In summary, the system would take advantage of a certain flexibility of the supports so that the entire profile, high-speed, rotates on its axis horizontal. This gives a double advantage : on the one hand reduces the resistance - a bit 'as the DRS to the rear - because the wing, leaning backwards, reduces its incidence, ie the angle formed with respect to the ground. On the other hand, the speaker would come air "cleaner" , improving overall efficiency. The case started with a tweet attributed to Flavio Briatore (but spoke of the hind wings). Then the German site of 'auto motor und sport' has given a detailed explanation. Also suggesting that it was the Ferrari to ask the FIA for clarification . Autosprint contacted the Federation but denies it: there is no case. For now. Roberto Chinchero
That picture Silver put up. Its definitely the 2012 car and Hamilton is driving. But he has the team leading red camera????
AMuS saying the new test has been done on McLaren and RBR and both passed the new test behind closed doors. Both teams have also removed these front wings away from the photographers line of sight!
This. If Red Bull had been doing this all season Whitmarsh would never have shut up about it. I had no idea about this, I missed that discussion Genji linked before. No wonder Ferrari are falling off the pace.
Itâs not a complaint by Ferrari, all they have done is to ask the FIA to look into it before they copy it. They want to know if itâs worth them developing their own version or if itâs going to be banned. Itâs pretty much standard operating procedure to ask the FIA before you go ahead and develop something complex like this.
See, as an engineering student I think the modifications that teams bring to their cars that are really innovative are exciting. Its also what this sport is all about, developing a better car by being smart and using what you know to work with the rules and get the most out of upgrades. It gets old when teams complain about what another team is doing instead of focusing on trying to come up with their own innovations, although I do understand that they would ask for clarification if they were to go down the same route as a team that already developed something interesting. Red Bull does tend to get a lot of the focus nowadays, but I guess thats what happens when you've had the success they've had in recent years, a lot of which is due to Adrian Newey being a brilliant aerodynamicist and designer.
