Hard to know his actual contribution to our current position but hopefully we can push on well without him. I wish him an average, mid-table amount of luck.

I hope we have someone lined up, it will not be easy to find a replacement of his coaching ability

Now we have two tricky fixtures against Derby as he knows our team inside out!

It will be interesting to see how much effect he had, will things carry on clicking or will things start to fall apart because the players arent happy with training or tactics.

Are we actually going to get a replacement for him? He was only on a 3 month contract which was beneficial to both us and him at the time. I also assume there was always an agreement he could leave at any time if a managerial job came available. I always thought he was just added to the coaching staff as an extra body to help us rather than occupying a role that would need replacing if/when he left.

    That was my impression too.

Hope he gives us a deal on Will Hughes, a fantastic prospect up there.

Never thought I would say this when he came in, but I am disappointed to see him leave. Not only because of the influence he has had on the squad, but also because he now knows all the ins and outs of our tactics and will know a plan to beat us.

I agree with the sentiments to McClaren leaving and have had a think about when Derby play us. Let's say that if we got one of Barcas backroom staff in and we were to play them twice within the next eight months. Even with this newly aquired coach's insight are we more likely to turn them over? <whistle>

be a disaster if Harry went as well now
McClaren was the obvious choice to take over

OK, even though he has done a good job, better than most of us expected, he has gone.
I really didn't think he would be crazy enough to go but hey, what the hell do I know!
So, now that he has gone, I don't have to like him anymore and I can go back to thinking of him as a wet twat standing in the rain.
Sour grapes, could be ................... I don't like people coming to our club and disrupting it by leaving 3 months later. It tells me they thought squat of us and were just using us as a stepping stone for their benefit.
OK, got that off my chest ................... let's play ball or should I say, football.
    Come on you RRRRRrrr'sss

Steve McClaren is "thrilled" and "excited" to be Derby County's new head coach.

"I've always followed Derby County because I was a player and coach here," said the 52-year-old. "It was one of those where you always think in back of your mind that you would like to manage. It all happened very quickly. It was a wrench to leave QPR."I am thrilled and excited, it is a big challenge ahead. I have got a great opportunity returning to Derby and we have a chance to build something big.

"It is not my decision (to get rid of Nigel Clough), it is the club's decision. All I can do is continue the good work that has gone on here."
