Too many people wear rose tinted spectacles when it comes to Stu. Talk about him as if he's still his old, excellent self. But he's a shadow of that player now, as you allude to. Some of Ralph's decisions over the past months have been questionable. But leaving Stu out of the side, on occasions, isn't one of them.
I feel people call for Stu because we've been completely lacking going forward, but he's always had the potential to be a liability losing the ball as we press forward. City's two goals today came from KWP diving in and missing, and Stu losing the ball catching us out of position.
Is anyone going to help our full backs in the second half? Aribo and Stu need to pull their fingers out or get off
You could overlook the half-hearted pressing and tracking back when he was frequently the man driving the ball, and the team, forward. But it's been a minute since he was an effective attacking force. The problem is that there isn't a single attacking wide player who can claim to be such. Aribo's been effective in bursts, and invisible for long stretches, but he's comfortably the best of a bad bunch.
I'd like to see maybe Aribo moved into the centre for the second half. There is space there for midfielders to turn and get us playing. JWP can, but mostly plays it safe back to the defence. Diallo cant. Diallo scares me every time he has the ball.
I hate to pick Diallo as a scapegoat, but I think he is terrible at keeping the ball. He wins it ok, but gives it away
I think you're right and this is the first time I've seen through the tinted spectacles. He gained a lot of credit with the fans for his first season and a bit before the first proper injury.
Settle for that. I have been wondering why ABK has a bandage on his left hand and Salisu has one on his right hand, and it has just clicked. They’re wearing idiot mittens and the non visible piece of bandage joining them together is to stop city getting between them.
I think that the Saints fans in the ground should start taunting the opposition with chants like: "Is that all you've got" and "You're nothing special, we lose every week", just to wind up City, which will obviously mean that City players will become nervous/annoyed/ over-confident, thus allowing Saints to score three unanswered goals. So, if we win, you heard it here first.
