Absolutely not. He is an awful negative manager who would only take us backwards with the "senior players" guaranteed a game.

Mcleish would be a dreadful appointment. Only won 7 games in.his season with Villa then 1 win in 7 at Forest just dragged his rep even further down the toilet.
Now here's a surprise, I got reading Tony Pulis' profile and his time at Stoke including stats etc. His football wasn't pretty but he over achieved and got the best out of what he got. The defensive stats are remarkable and we dam sure been someone who could sort us out defensively. Whisper it but I dont think Pulis would be a total disaster.

Pulis would cause constipation amongst some fans but if you promise not to shout it either, then I too don't think he would be that terrible an appointment . If it's organisation, discipline and hard work then Pulis is the man. Dull as dish water football maybe but he'd have us grafting points very quickly and keep us up.
Poyet might build a better looking team in time but will he keep us up?

Pulis would be to us what Sam Allardyce was to Newcastle. Would probably do what was required but would be totally not what we as fans want.
Thing is with Pulis, he built his defensive foundations in the Championship and developed it. That is a Massive difference to coming into a failing club and making a failing defense perform under premiership pressure. In Fact, there's nothing to say he could do this at all. So it's a big no from me as his previous success with defence work clearly can't apply to us.
I can't believe how many people say they will cancel their season tickets if certain managers are appointed..It's the club I support, and the club that I will still support long after the next manager has gone regardless who it is..
You may have a point there although you could say that about ANY new manager, that their recipe for success at one club cannot then be replicated anywhere else?
I don't agree with that bit at all but do concede that for it to happen at all needs time. Poyet remains the best option for me from the remaining candidates but the success he built at Brighton will only be repeated over 2 or 3 years ice he came here and not 2 or 3 months as some will expect.
That's big debating point really not if or would a new manager tufn this round but how long until they did?
Which is exactly why our views are so important fella, it's what gives us the right of opinion. There's no excuse for refusing to attend because of a manager or regime. But I feel a bit locked out of my club at the moment. The only voices coming out of our club seem to be players from the clique. JoS talking to the media again today. I need some reassurance from Ellis, Not JoS mouthing of in the media about what he expects from the team then not matching it with his own performances.
I understand frustration from the Card holders but that's all it is. I bet not one will return a season card they've paid for, but it's their right, it's all our right to be angry with the situation. The new manager falls down to two things. Picking a manager that's right for the club and Picking a manager which is right for the players. If the latter is picked then quite right they'll be hell on.
Spot on that like, totally sums up Short's dilemma but you would have to say with us rooted to the bottom of the league on 1 point, safety has to come first.

Very true mate, you can say that about any manager, But like I said in my previous post. There are two types of appointment to be made here. Picking a manager that's right for the club and Picking a manager which is right for the players. Pulis would be an appointment for the players in my opinion. Stoke had a horrendous rep for player power, player antics and underperforming on the pitch. A pulis appointment would be an absolute disaster.
I'd make a very similar appointment to Paolo only without the PDC headcase mindset. A coach who can install a philosophy of hard work and discipline when trying to play the right kind of progressive football that brings us into the modern game. Meulensteen is my man but there are few who can instal such a style like Poyet, Zola and those who will let the players run amok and play dated football like Pulis, Mcleish and hate to say but looking at team selection, Bally.
The lowest Pulis stoke ever finished was 14th under him. Granted it's awful to watch but maybe its time to face facts these players are simply not good enough to play the passing game, they don't pass it quickly enough. However, it was a bit odd on Sunday to see cattermole play a superb ball over the top for gardner that mignolet saved of course. In fact catts and giac exempt from criticism for sunday. Pulis is the man for me now, that's if we want to stay up.
