Big time, like him or not its no way to treat anyone. Totally unprofessional of penfold & co the way they have handled this. I expect an announcement one way or another later on today. Rafa in, on an interim basis seems the most likely scenario.
Could put off potential managers as well. They could look and think 'I'm not getting treated like that.'
Perhaps this is a keep back for the Sunderland game. They know we are getting pumped off Leicester regardless, so have decided to use Sunderland's own tactics against them and go for the new manager effect in time for the derby game. However if Rafa Benitez is that man I fear we may not be rewarded. I know he has a good track record but I just don't see it working out.
Not so funny if he isn't removed and Rafa doesn't come. Remember we had allegedly held talks with Vieira but they broke down due to our insistence on keeping our recruitment process in place.
If McClaren had any balls he should have resigned before it came to this, the fact he hasn't is about money not the job so sod him.
They must realise that we won't get a good manager with that geriatric **** scouting and signing players.
TBF Vieira had no experience of management or transfers. Rafa has that experience and could reasonably expect the club to have a bit more trust in his judgement. My main worry is that he has a history of publicly disagreeing with owners over transfer policy and other issues. I'd imagine there will be much wrangling over that part of any contract, considering how the club relates to the press at the moment.
They want to hurry up and sack McClaren if they are planning to. They are just taking the piss. A club in relegation trouble taking 5 days to sack a manager? They haven't backed him once since Saturday. It's insulting to everyone.
At this rate we'll sack him during the Leicester game to distract us from the 7-0 thrashing we're on the way to.
Which is exceedingly civilised. There's nothing worse than getting the sack after opening time and wasting good drowning sorrows time.
