Frank Keating the Guardian football journalist sadly passed away today. I don't think he was a Fulham fan but he certainly always did us proud. Since it's FA Cup day tomorrow, here's an article he wrote in 1975, just before our semi-final tie against Birmingham -

Currently 0-4 up-the-road. Hopefully keep the WUMs off our board.

Something to lighten the mood after the weekend. My boys have just spotted that I've made it into the club calendar!

If you look at the photo of Petric on January, behind him and to the right you'll see a large, blurry chap in a red shirt (2009-10 away) and a black baseball cap. That's me! The photo, my boys have deduced, was taken at the Norwich game. My eldest is, sadly, behind Petric and blocked from view, though he maintains that part of his arm is visible. Fame at last. It's just a shame that we only discovered it with a few more days before I'm turned over and consigned back to anonymity.

And apologies to Bandit, who I know finds replica shirts on men of a certain age offensive. You get to a point where you don't care what other people think you look like.

No offense taken. My Dad always insists I buy him the latest Fulham home kit every birthday/christmas, I've just come to the age where I'd only wear them for a kick about in the park with some mates. There hasn't been a home kit I've liked so much as to contemplate buying since the Nike/LG kit we were in our survival season under Hodgson. Man, that was a beautiful shirt.

Derek Boateng came on after 71 minutes in this evenings game Ghana v Niger. Difficult to form an opinion since at that time Ghana were 3-0 up and the game was at walking pace.

He very much took command of the deep central midfield and seemed to read the game well. But never under any real pressure and never broke sweat.

Are you talking about Boateng or about my appearance in Petric's calendar photo, Traveller? It's probably a fair comment either way.

    Joke of the Day:

Harry Redknapp has claimed he was driving Chris Huhne's car, as he's desperate for three points

Interesting how his old dear is referred to as "Margarita Berbatova". Is that a Bulgarian thing? Do the women have a feminine suffix of sorts on their surnames?

It's not uncommon in slavic countries. To use some examples from the tennis world, think Marat Safin and his sister Darina Safina or Maria Sharapova and her dad Yuri Sharapov.

Is it wrong that I take a certain amount of pleasure in how irritated the QPR board have gotten today with all the Swansea WUMs?

They retain a sense of humour though. This link was posted by one of our visiting 'friends' under a thread title "We Can Do It;We still have a Chance"

Cottager i have just read your reprinted article ,by Frank Keating a great erudite wordsmith,
a far cry from many of todays journalists.
We may, on our board, from time to time, have worded disagreements, but for pure vitriolic
abusiveness, troll through the QPR board .

    Great tweet from Mazza Balotelli:

Probably a fake account, but it made I laugh!
