Did you hear about the dyslexic devil worshipper? He sold his soul to Santa.

So after yet more ex-drummer drama, my band is hopefully going to be bouncing back back incredibly quickly as we have another drummer interested already! Onwards and upwards!

As long as he doesn't do a cruciate, you should be all right.

Glad to hear things are working out.

I've always believed that the Cobain/Love/Grohl triangle bears similarity to that of Lennon/Yoko/McCartney. I read the book 'Love and Death' which paints a pretty clear picture of the negative effect Love had on Nirvana. Before she came along, money that the band earned was divided up equally (33% to Cobain, Grohl and Novoselic) yet when Love came along, she demanded Cobain have at least 80%. Nirvana had already split before Kurt's 'death' in my opinion.

Hey, was Paul McCartney in any bands before Wings? (just kidding)

Courtney Love, to her credit, is one hell of a song writer and performer. Hole is a band worth listening to for any serious music fan. But she's also a cancer. When you're the sole-surviving parent and Social Services takes your kids away, you're a sick little monkey. As a fairly close follower of Nirvana and Courtney Love (who hails from my home town, Portland, just south of Seattle), I always figured Cobain and Love were soulmates of the most self-destructive kind.

There are those, many really, who directly attribute Cobain's suicide to Love, but given what I know about Kurt, it was just a matter of time until he a) found Jesus, or b) wasted himself. People in that kind of misery must eventually turn a corner one way or another.

What's frequently lost in the discussion about Cobain is his physical pain he was in. He had a pinched nerve in his back, which left him feeling constant nausea and a burning stomach - hense the lyrics
"I'm on warm milk and laxatives
    Cherry-flavored antacids".

The drugs were how he coped with the pain.

Actually shortly before Kurt and Courtney hooked up, it was divided something like 50% Kurt's way and 25% each to Krist and Dave, which they all agreed to as Kurt did the vast majority of song-writing. Towards the end and in the years after Kurt died Love was pushing for every last penny, or near enough.

I might have read too much into this, but are you saying he isn't dead?

YES. What goes largely unknown is the medical conditions Kurt had, which were not caused by heroin abuse. He had a stomach condition which the doctors couldn't treat, so he used heroin to manage the crippling pain, like you say. Too many people say he was a junkie waster without knowing all the facts.

He was such an interesting man and they were a fascinating band. They also did a lot for gay rights and were staunchly anti-domestic violence, and showed up at demonstrations and seminars.

I actually own an original copy of "Bleach", their first CD, recorded before Dave joined the band.

If you like Nirvana, you probably like Soundgarden and Pearl Jam - it's interesting all the personnel connections the three great bands. But, like everything, grunge didn't grow up in a vacuum and most admit they were heavily influenced by punk.

Yeah, the connections between those three and bands like Temple of the Dog, Mother Love Bone, Alice In Chains etc are really interesting. Same with the Thrash Metal scene in the 80's Bay Area.

    Ah, I'm with you now.

I just saw Looper at the cinema, and I highly recommend it. In a time where sequels/reboots/remakes are king, this stands out as being original and engaging. Given the plot, it doesn't try to overcomplicate itself either, and is all the more entertaining for it.

Incidentally, I thought Bruce Willis at times looked like a Hollywood Martin Jol! If Jol ever has a film made of his life, Willis would have to play the lead.

Any car experts here? The clutch burned out on my 2001 Fiesta at the weekend. My garage reckon it will cost £450 to fix and questioned whether it was worth doing. Any thoughts? Would I be throwing good money away and be better off just replacing the car? Would the part-exchange on the fixed-up old one justify paying for the work? It's got about 130,000 miles on the clock.
