I see on SSN that Maynard has refused a new contract and will be sold in January. Anyone like me think he would be a good addition, and at what cost. £1.5m?.
Not sure we'd get him for £1.5m and don't think he is any better than what we already have, rather we spent money on the defence which seems to be what's happening reading quotes from NW & TF
Too much of a risk,Historically players from lower divisions dont usually cut the mustard 1st season in the prem.Zamora, earnshaw etc.
he has been injured for a while but I would def take a chance. He is still young, came from Crewe Alex and most of the boys that leave Crewe alway have decent careers. Would take a chance for a mill, better than Dave, better than Rowan Vine and once a few high earners are of the books then we should go for it....
Fix the defence so that the midfield doesn't spend too much of their time playing on the edge of their own penalty area. Some of SWPs best moves have been in that area ... but then he has nobody to pass to as he is one of those that should be up there! At the moment by the time we get near their penalty area we have taken 25 passes from side to side and the opposition have 10 players behind the ball. When the ball does move quickly there are few - if any - players heading into the box to receive the cross.
"QPR boss Neil Warnock is in the race for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard after the Robins officially declared he was for sale. Warnock is keen to add to his squad in the New Year and, although his priorities are defenders, he also wants to add to his strikeforce as the club suffer with a lack of goals and he has been linked with Maynard who has netted 45 goals in 113 games for the struggling City side. City had hoped he would sign a new deal but that is not going to happen and rather than see him walk away for nothing in the summer they have decided to sell him instead. City boss Derek McInnes admitted the club were left with no option. "For some time now Nicky has had a very good offer on the table, showing the club's ambition and our desire to secure his future with us beyond the end of this season," he told the club's official website. "Nicky has made it clear he does not wish to enter into any more discussions at this time. "As much as I would like to keep Nicky at the club beyond the end of this season, we are left in an unenviable situation. "We must protect the club and, therefore, we have no alternative but to seek offers for Nicky during the forthcoming January transfer window." "
IMO we need a good central defender or two, a creative midfielder (assuming Adel leaves) as well as a decent striker.
we've got enough championship players in our team and look where it's got us, we need proven prem players apart from joey Barton who's only gone to prove he ain't worth the money.
Quick!!!! give Paul Lambert a call, cause he is not aware that only proven premier league players can cut it. He will be ****ting himself...... not. I rather have a team who will go through walls because of team spirit and willingness to fight for each other and consisting of good championship players then having big names in the squad but nowhere near a team.
"I rather have a team who will go through walls because of team spirit and willingness to fight for each other[/B] and consisting of good championship players then having big names in the squad but nowhere near a team" Well said Pey
well at the moment no-ones doing f-all and it has to be someone's fault.., it sure as hell ain't mine! what do you suggest Einstein??
I rate him but on the BBC it says that Bristol City turned down a bid around £6m for him in the summer so he might go for around £4m and for that I think we should put that towards a proven premier league striker
Offer to buy and loan him straight back to Bristol C, might get a good deal for him and then bring him in to us in the summer
