Just taken my seat in my favourite bar to watch the fight. The highway, a couple of hundred metres away, is totally empty, which I have never seen before. Usually very congested. If Pac man wins this country is going to go mental.
Well it wasn't a classic. Paquio wanted to fight but Maywether just backed off and counter punched. The scoring from one judge was scandalous, but the ref and all three judges were yanks which I find worrying. Not a lot of neutrality there. Excluding the Filipinos, the Westerners were pretty divided about the result.
The better quality was from Mayweather and I think he clearly won by 4 or 5 rounds. The commentary from Sky towards Mayweather was very biased though as per usual. But Manny did tear his shoulder 3 weeks before the fight, and was advised to cancel the fight but didn't. And he was then refused a painkilling injection prior to the fight by the Nevada Athletic Commission, which quite frankly I find totally baffling. So no surprise Manny wasn't at his best and couldn't throw as many punches as he would've liked.
