Aye these midsummer romances never last very long bonny lad. You did get one reasoned post out of me think yourself lucky.
Can't see anything in that thread which makes it stand out for closing. It's a sad day when threads are closed just because people disagree with the content.
You should have a quick read of the first few posts . There was no bullshit coming from any Newcastle fan at all, just sensible, calm, non provocative discussion that a couple of Sunderland fans got pissy about because they aren't keen on this forum being a multi-team one. Others were sensible though and I agree with what CyprusMackem just said above too.
the sad truth is that moderation is a matter of judgement and I made a judgment call, nothing to do with me agreeing or dle threaisagreeing with content and not even about Newcastle fans.
Mess with Syd and you mess with me... I might not be scary but I'm pals with Bruceys 'Pablo Escobar of Andalusia' Beak and Jersey 'Lucky Lucciano' Mackem.
Fair enough, it is your call to do as you see fit. I just think it's a damn shame when some people instantly leap to insults and tribalism when a different supporter posts something sensible to start a fair discussion, and I think its a shame some people don't grasp that the whole point of this forum is to allow different teams' fans to discuss things together - if I was angered by any input from another team's fan I wouldn't read this forum. I'd be pleasantly surprised if a few days after losing the derby, our rivals were posting reasonable articles on our board.
If you look at the board you will see the confusing world of the mod. Read one thread and we are OTT free speach stoppers. But wait, we are then asked why we dont delete those nasty mags. seems you cant please all the people all the time.
TBF I think that closing, deleting and banning are very, very rare on this board. Right now emotions are very high and we are just trying to keep a lid on it.
I don't mind what you delete or don't delete really, it's just a football forum and not some highly important political debate being censored or somthing. I was moreso continuing my point from the thread in question, I don't get the whole 'hate sunderland and all of its idiot fans' thing, I like to see us beat you in the derby but otherwise I don't see why we can't all just discuss whatever and communicate like normal humans.
The most sensible thing posted on the forums today. The arguements that erupted on here last night. Just because a Newcastle fan posted a thread was ridiculous. I have no problems with Sunderland or their fans at all. And its a real shame, people do have problems with fans of rival clubs.
I started that thread in the hope of having some intellectual discussion with Sunderland fans on the forthcoming campaign and ended up with a volley of abuse, near enough instantly. Hey ho, was still a few who came in and had some reasonable things to say and for that im thankful. Shame it was closed really.
Beginning to wish i hadn't logged on............ I've a pretty easy life as most will know, but as syd says we cant please everone all the time......... Getting bored now............i spend to much time looking at all the petty ****e.
I bet it seems like a thankless job at times like this, but I firmly believe the silent majority on here appreciate the work you and the mods are doing..Let's face it; the board is bad enough at the moment with emotions running out of control, but without any moderation it would [in my opinion] swiftly sink into total anarchy...
As Voltaire said: I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. Not blaming Mods - it's a tough and thankless task especially when emotions are high and the ratio of people being dicks goes up - but still, I hate to see threads closed. p.s. Not suggesting the OP was being a dick at all - but even decent posts from Mags at this time are likely to be seen as a wind up.
