Just been looking at Max Ehmer since he joined on loan from QPR in Nov 2014.
He has played 331 games and scored 17 goals
He is 14th highest appearance holder for the Gills. Hessy is 11th with 363.
Cannot see a Gills player playing over 300 games for the club anytime soon. What a great servent he has been to the club and deserves a lot more respect by some.
Not the greatest player but always gives his all for the club and generally a starter so can't be that bad.<applause><applause>

I agree he has taken a lot of criticism but I feel he is a steady center half and is normally very calm and is consistent. He has made mistakes as all defenders will at times. I thought he had a very good game against Wimbledon yesterday.

Respect.... ....has to be earned - not 'demanded'!

At the moment, ALL the squad ( except Green ), are earning respect - not just Ehmer...

To comment, specifically, on the subject of this thread, I thought I made my position clear.... Over the 18 months up to January 2023, neither Ehmer or probably ALL the squad during this time did much to earn respect....and I don't suppose Ehmer earned much respect from Bristol Rovers fans in the season before the time period I have mentioned....... (( don't bother, gioblues - I know you don't care what Gas think. ))

As for 'respect' for X number of games played by any player - I would prefer quality, rather than quantity....'Less is more ! ' -- I have already said that if Ehmer continues with his current improvement, I expect him to be in the squad next season...... I haven't given that amount of respect to several others (( who have shown at least the same level of improvement as Ehmer. ))

Ok not respect but appreciation. No one plays that many games and is bad <doh>

Yes he was a fault for the second goal but otherwise he had a good game
He cost Gills a game-defining goal! Up to that point, although the team weren't great -- I thought that we could nick a draw... My hopes were destroyed by Elmer's horror -- and you should have heard other fans around me - they were quite graphic in their condemnation

Not surprised he did cost us the goal but also Masterson could of done a lot better . The forward still had a lot to do. Some fans waiting for Ehmer to slip up so they can have a moan, quiet when Masterson makes a mistake though. Before you have another dig I still would like Masterson next season.

So today Ehmer made his 350th appearance in a Gills shirt.
Well done Max. Some people will appreciate him for those games as a Gills player. Not likely anyone will reach that figure again at our club any time soon.
Not a clean sheet and with next 3 games against top 6 teams be hard to get another one soon.
If he does get another contract next season very likely that he will become at least top 10 appearance maker in history of Gillingham.

I've got a complaint! lol

How come Ron Hillyard, who made over 600 appearances for the Gills, so nearly double Ehmer and I think our second highest legend ever in terms of games played, don't have his picture up in the Rainham End.

I know we are old now, and the younger ones may not remember who he was but come on guys, I still remember....guys, guys, where you gone.

350 appearances is a great achievement in an era where longevity of players is few and far between. He's been well deserved of the plaudits he's been getting recently.

As for Ron Hillyard, agree that we're missing quite a few heroes pictures up on the walls, I want to know where is Bondz Ngala's photo!?

Found an interesting statistic today with regards to Max Ehmer and his defensive skills. For the 2022/23 season he is the current leader in League Two for interceptions made with 83. The next best is Sutton United's Craig Eastmond on 78 before Liam Kinsella of Walsall with 70. Fun little thing to note and I'm sure something Neil Harris is aware of when making his decision for whether to keep Max for next season.

Well looks like club believes Ehmer is good as he has signed a new contract.
Well done Max
Could be in top 10 of appearances next season ahead of some legends including Hessy

On Saturday Ehmer moved up to 13th in the club's all-time appearances list (with 356) after moving above Dennis Hunt. Next targets for Max are achievable also with 12th being Damien Richardson on 357 so he can equal and overtake that this week should he play on Tuesday and Saturday, then Andy Hessenthaler in 11th on 363 and a bit further ahead Nicky Southall in 10th on 379.

I was looking at the stats the other day, and thought the same, the only thing that will stop him will be if he picks up an injury, I certainly can't see him being dropped.

Certainly no reason to drop him at the moment. Appreciate Masterson isn't fully fit but it sounds like Ogie had a great game on Saturday so its down to Conor to work his way into the side when he does. All the time the team keeps clean sheets in the league, it will be hard to displace any of them (and I'm excluding the game against Southampton from this as its basically a free hit and not a real comment on our defence how that match goes).

Congratulations to Max Ehmer who has now played 375 games for the Gills. He is now number 10 in all time appearances for the club.
Cannot see anyone getting anyway near that figure for the club.<applause>

Max said he'll be around about 2pm tomorrow - but doesn't want too many sprouts - thank you.
