Mustn't assume that Poch will be looking to leave in the summer...depends on how everything pans out. By then everything will be clearer.
Ramirez : Came for the Money and the promise that we would build a team around him. We didn't.
Osvaldo : Came for the Money & to use Saints as a stepping stone to a bigger club
Wanyama : Came because our offer was the only one that Celtic accepted
Boruc : Free agent, came for the Money
Lovren : Probably ditto Osvaldo, although he's about the only one of the list above I would give the benefit of the doubt to.
They came for the Money, they will stay for the money, until either the money runs out, or another club offers them more.
Footballers do not join clubs because of their Chairman and his "project".

I said it on Twitter yesterday and a lot of people seemed to find it amusing, but the point is a valid one...
...I couldn't care whether SFC is led by a bloke, a bird or a chick with a dick. So long as it is run responsibly and the right decisions are made.
This entirely.
My Dad said last night 'At the end of the day, I'm still going to be supporting the same club since I was 6'.

it would be interesting to see how the choice of the next CEO will affect Les Reed as well. Without an autonomous CEO like Nicola there might be overlap in their roles and he would be a step further away from the ear of the organ grinder.Agree. Hinges on a lot of things...
- Relationship with KL
- KL's plans for SFC
- How he gets on with the new CEO
- The new CEO's approach towards the team
- Potential new owners and how they get on etc.
Someone just has to get a copy of that video and force you to watch it.
It would be like the irresistable force versus the immovable object.![]()
Purslow has said he won't rule out joining Saints.
After the live broadcast of Thursday’s press conference came to an end, Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the written press for the following day’s newspapers.
There’s a commitment and loyalty to the staff of this club, to the people that run this club, to the supporters of this club."
Mauricio Pochettino
Here are the key talking points from the gaffer’s briefing:
On what convinced him to stay at Southampton after Nicola Cortese’s departure on Wednesday...
“It is clear that there is loyalty – there’s a commitment to this club. There’s a commitment and loyalty to the staff of this club, to the people that run this club, to the supporters of this club. My contract, at the end of the day, is with Southampton; it’s with the company and I intend to see out my contract with this company. It would not be the right moment to actually leave this club right now.”
On working under a new Chairman...
“It’s only logical that when people change, things change. It’s only normal that that change is going to happen. When people leave, things will change as well. My commitment and my responsibility towards this club is to make sure that this club is always up.”
On Wednesday’s events...
“I arrived from the training ground, with my staff – with Toni [Jiménez], Jesús [Pérez] and Miguel [D’Agostino]. We came at 5pm. At half-past-six, Nicola was leaving. Everyone saw that. It’s clear that, after half-past-six, I was thinking about many things, especially in the night-time. It’s clear that I was thinking about my decision at this club. It’s only normal that it was a heavy blow to digest. It was difficult to sleep when this happened – I’m not going to lie.
“This is a great responsibility to be manager at this club. When you sign a contract it’s not just signing a little piece of paper. It’s about your commitment and it’s about your responsibility to the staff, to the players, to the fans, to the Club as a whole. It’s a great responsibility and I’m fully, 100 per cent decided on staying here – staying at this club – until the end of the season and taking this club as high as it can [go].”
On next season...
“First, it’s only normal that we finish the season and then we’ll see next season what happens. That’s only normal. It’s clear that at the end of the season we will assess the situation at the Club.”
On the next few days…
“It’s all happened very quickly. We just need to respond as well as we can. We need to have time to assimilate everything that has happened – not just us but the players as well, and the fans. The Club needs to assimilate what happened on Wednesday. More than anything, we need tranquility. We need to be calm and try to be as fully focused as we can – as always – to get a positive result on Saturday.”

That hasn't filled me with confidence. I think he may stay but is likely to leave in the summer. My concern is the "KL's plans for SFC" bit. In terms of getting a good return on their investment the biggest leap is over. By the laws of diminishing returns far greater investment in needed for less of a jump in club value (and PL places). It makes sense for her to sell if she has no interest in football. If she wants the club to continue on its upward trajectory then getting rid of cortese does not make sense.
Does anyone know why the Daily Mirror are so determined to undermine the good being done at St. Marys seems to be a conspiracy that is begining to overstep the realms of decency.
