Completely agree with this. I cannot believe that he has the audacity to claim this after the money he flung on Samba and Remy. QPR have a good squad, in fact I was scared of it at the start of the season, but it is just full on mercenaries and has beens. Having said that there is not way that they should be happy to 'just survive' next season. It is however, interesting to see Harry 'it's never my fault' Redknapp already making his excuses a year in advance.
His family may have visited, but not stayed. He hasn't been here that long...moving countries (especially where children are involved) isn't that easy. He has had very little time to sort anything out...someone on Saintsweb who has spoken to his English teacher said that he can rarely spare more than an hour to practice.
LOL made me laugh! What ever happened to "Hard work beats talent, if talent doesn't work hard....."! 'Arry "not my fault" Redknapp probably uses "Mercenary talent won't work hard, but it's hard to make a quick buck from real talent"
That we haven't heard anything about these apparently soon-to-be-completed transfers suggests to me that they're probably players moving on a free...if there was another team involved, we'd have likely gotten some word, given how badly most leak.
Media again. It's like the way they banged on about Pardew being sacked and latterly Adkins getting the push. Saints fans did the honourable thing and kicked up a stink for a few days, but then quietly got on with it, whereas the media still aren't over it. The local media have some idea, but the national lot haven't a clue. Ask any Saints fan whether they think replacing Nigel was a good decision and 99/100 will say yes. Unfortunately, that involves sacking someone. Not nice when they're doing reasonably well and surviving. But reasonably well and surviving isn't where this club wants to be anymore.
So it wouldn't be Astori and Co, and they are just keeping it quiet then..? Saints have always been very good at keeping the important things close to their chest, so don't assume the transfers aren't significant ones. After all, Bayern Munich have just signed a top player out of the blue and the transfer window hasn't even opened yet. And incidentally, he will almost certainly face them during the European Cup Final.
I still reckon one is Astori, as whisperings seem to confirm that talks haven't stalled...apart from a little incarceration! As for the other one....Verdu from Espanyol, OOC at the end of the season?
Could be, but while I have no doubts about our ability to keep things quiet, most teams seem incapable of setting down to breakfast without fifty journos finding out what they've put on their toast.
True, although if we ignore the Ramirez transfer saga, most of our other signings arrived with a minimum of fuss. Rodriguez, Clyne, Gazzaniga, Yoshida, Davis all were quite quiet affairs.
This is true, but news tends to come out of Italy slower than most. And Italians are very good at keeping a secret, especially when there's money in it.
Flamini, maybe? Weren't Saints supposedly talking to him? I think it was us and Villa, would assume we would have the advantage there.
It's probably just an irrational fear Fran. Cortese is just getting started, in my opinion. In fact the article definitely has the wrong headline. A less snappy, but more accurate one would have been... Pochettino - The Man tasked with carrying out Cortese's big plans.
