I sometimes wear my City shirt to matches. I also wear another when I play football. I think it's good to wear them in places outside of Hull because to me it shows a sense of identity among a sea of Top 4 and Leicester fans. If I didn't wear it, then people would just assume I'm a Leicester fan. In fact, I wore it behind the bar last year (and afterwards, despite us losing 2-1) and there was loads of friendly banter! It also says 'Fryatt 12' on the back, just to rub salt in the wound!!
It's quite simple really, real supporters go whether we win, lose, get relegated or promoted. We don't stop going because they aren't playing 'attractive football', they don't stop going because a manager gets sacked. If you do, regardless of what you wear, you're a real fan. My old man hasn't missed a home game since 1953, he wears a scarf and a city coat, I personally don't wear anything except a small badge on my jacket.
