Just read his article in the evening post,I have to say I agree with everything he said in his article.
Why is it us fans who like to play manager can see the problems,yet the man in charge does not see it.
Matt does get his views spot on.

I'm sure Del does what he thinks is best,but many of us are starting to question his tactics and team selection.

Who would want to be a football manager.
 
ive always said i would be the best manager for city...... but who hasn't, the one thing we dont see is what del does, and thats the players every day, he see's what players have been working the hardest to make the starting 11, we only see 90 minutes a week not enough to judge BUT we do pay our money so we are entitled to voice our opinion, i still think Derek is the perfect man for the job, and keeping us up is his main target and we will see HIS team next season, which im excited about

Just going by feedback from fans who are friends,business people I deal with who attend and customers that are city fans.
It is not all honey and roses as some seem to think.

We all would love Delboy to keep us up.
Will he time will tell.
 
tbh I haven't seen the article but surely he's not saying that fans can see the problems but DM cant?! If anything he can see it more, as Shiny rightly says, he see's the players a lot more than we do! And I hate to say this but fans aren't always right! I've seen 101 different selections and formations in the space of a few months on not606, so even our 'expert' fans can't agree!

Give the manager a break, lets get behind the team by singing and cheering as loud as we can, instead of muttering under our breath!

As redallover says, it is getting a little too frequent to be anything other than malicious - we all know your view (although not many on here share it) so, enough now...

I believe that the problems at the club have their root in a situation that has been allowed to fester in the dressing room for far too many years now.

DM has inherited a squad that many reports say consist of several different factions/cliques, call them what you will and it is my opinion that these did for GJ in the latter years as they did for KM with some clearly not playing for either. In fact, I think that you would have to adopt the Sadam approach to keep them in check. I heard some of the threats that KM made to the players several times with my own ears - they took no notice at all...

Clearly the various factions united when DM first arrived and we saw evidence of what a united squad CAN do, the same as we did when they all bought in to the GJ philosophy however I believe that the players have had the power at the club for far too long and if there is a discipline problem at the club, it is a lack of control of the players...

Now it may well have been with the best intentions (and I understand wanting to play) but it clearly shows that there are issues when Mr Stead tweeted his frustration the other day and there are probably others that share his view and are causing disquiet and maybe aggitating against DM behind the scenes which could well be responsible for the current malaise on the pitch as this is NOT a united squad...

DM clearly isn't happy about it but he knows that the balance of power will shift in the summer so he has the ultimate whip hand, it is only a case if he can coax 5 or 6 wins out of the squad before the end of the year to see us safe. Hopefully, the ones who want to stay and play for him can manage this and we start again inthe summer.

I would however disagree with the going down would be a disaster theory. I DON'T WANT IT TO HAPPEN but if it did, with a new bunch of players totally united, behind the manager and successful, the fans will see this and get behind them as we did in the early days of GJ and it would be better than watching the current players just going through the motions.

Look at what Lambert has achieved at Norwich, he was an unknown at Colchester who seized his opportunity and hasn't looked back since...

Stick with it DM, a lot of us have faith so a message to the players would be that you can't all play and it is the manager runs this club, not the players and whoa betide anyone who thinks any different...
 
Well said Prem and as far as I'm concerned the entire playing staff can be sacked, replaced or moved on come the summer.

No-one is bigger than the club and we dont want overpaid primadonna's like Stead or anyone else. We all just a squad of 20 odd players who will wear the shirt with pride, fight for each other from start to end in every game, and have a never say die attitude. Oh and if we could have a liberal sprinkling of skill, that would also be good.

Your right as said it is not all honey and roses behind the scenes,of course we all want him to succeed, the sooner the better,my concern is he has had money to bring his players in but the only one to really improve the playing squad so far has been the lad at the back playing very well.
SL has backed him,so there is no questions or doubts on that one.

Priority is championship status going down will cost the club financially,regards the new ground 10000 rattleing around it would be crazy.

Del continued to select Maynard and some at the time said - 'get rid (ie don't select) of a bad apple before it affects the barrel'.

Coincidence ??? Who knows.
 
Nobody wants relegation..

So lets try and support ALL the personnel we have at the moment here in trying to stop it happening.. if you were one of the players being targeted for "the big clear out" at the end of the season, (as all the fans on various forums are quite happy to name their opinion on who that should be!)

Tell me, would you be trying your hardest for it not to happen. (apply that situation to your work and think about it!)

We will ALL be to blame if it happens..

I had the feeling that Sextone put Maynard up for transfer as he would'nt sign a new contract....
I feel he should have left it alone and let Maynard playout his contract for how much we got for him.........1.6m is little money if it meant the difference of staying up or going down.
IMO the board cocking up again.

Prem.....Don't compare us to Norwich because we are nowhere near them in structure of a club. Remember they sold 20,000 season tickets in that season after going down. With that sort of backing it just needed the right manager and as it was they were VERY lucky in getting Paul Lambert.....it just clicked and that doesn't happen very often.

As with the players mentioned.....there are not that many players still at the club when GJ was in charge.....so I'm interested to know the ones (Stead mentioned) that are causing the problems...
IMO if DM can't sort that out then he ain't much of a manager or we have the wrong manager. That IS HIS JOB.
 
Let's all remember where we were before DM took over - adrift at the bottom.
He has a massive job to do with the playing staff - there are obviously people still here he does not rate - he's playing a system that he thinks will best get results with those resources.
Personally I would play 2 up front, especillay at home, but I can see his reluctance as our midfield gets over-run.
If DM keeps us up this season from where we were when he was appointed it will be a real achievement - he's the right man!!

Well lets see your team, in 4-4-2 formation, or 4-5-1 formation, or maybe 3-5-2, see how it would differ from what DM selects, could be that you could help the man out, and get us out of this relegation fight, that goes for all the DM doubters.

I'd play Carey with Fonts (balance) this Saturday with Foster and McGivern (Carey to old but don't rate Nyatanga or McGivern at all).
Adomah,Marv,NK,Pearson.
Stead and Pitman.
And I'll be surprised (pleasantly) if we get a draw whatever side we put out.

I question Del's recent wisdom -
A/ Why bring another 'Leftie' CB to the club.
B/ Woods is no better than Stead.
C/ IF you decide to play 2 up top - then it's daft to pair Pitman with Adomah.

Something to look out for in the coming weeks - McManus to get sent off for late/dangerous tackles.
 
How about this line up

This has to be as strong a side as we have,I have put Cole back in defence as he has been brilliant playing there,Pearson I have given the nod over Bolasie for his experiance.John Stead/Chris Woods no preference both will do the same job,Brett Pitman has to play alongside another striker,his goals would/could keep us up.

I personally think this is the side to play week in,week out,let them get some understanding playing together,If this team can not keep us up we deserve to be relagated.

The other option is 3-5-2 where I would play Fontaine,Macmanus,Foster.Leaving a space for Cole Skuse to come into the five man midfield.

I'M sure others might have different formations, but I would go with my 4-4-2 line to keep us up.
