Defensively I would fancy our chances against you. Attacking wise you as proven by being the top scorers in the divison you are a handful. I just dont think you have the depth the sustain a top 2 challenge. Just my opinion On the having too much quality for this league so do us and Cardiff
Dont have the depth? You seen how big our squad is!!! Even with first teamers out on loan we still have lots of different options/players to choose from.
You may have depth in numbers but not in quality. Your first 11 is very good but theres not much else
Just out of interest, which players of ours do you include in our "first 11". And, when you mention "not much else", who are you specifically referring to? I'm not having a dig or anything, just curious.
Well, would suggest 'quality' is subjective as people will rarely know too many players outside of their first 11. We do have a lot of strength in depth - but how many teams make 6 unforced changes in the league? I wouldn;t say the players coming in weren't quality, there were just too many changes in one go, with maybe one or two tactical errors in there (for me, Hogg and Eustace together, and Murray at RWB were the biggest mistakes last night). I would suggest our weakest areas are the two wing back roles - we need good cover for Cassetti and Pudil, and maybe someone who can cover for Abdi! But once all fit, would suggest Neuton is cover at LWB and Doyley/Anya cover at RWB As for the rest of the squad; CBs - Hall, Nos, Hoban, Ekstrand, Doyley, Neuton. WB - Cassetti, Pudil, Anya, Forsyth (maybe) CM - Eustace, Hogg, Chalobah, Battochio, Abdi, Mujanga-Bia, Murray, Yeates Att - Vydra, Deeney, Forestieri, Geijo This is what I would suggest is out first team squad. I honestly cannot see many Championship teams with such depth. As I said, you can argue about quality all day long... but I would suggest most of these players can deputise perfectly well in isolation - but I don't think you can expect 6 to just walk in and keep up the same levels of performance as the 6 stepping down!
Might have still lost even without the changes though. Keeping our better players fresh is a good thing, it's a marathon not a sprint
Our ' 2nd 11 ' is better than last seasons best 11 that finished 11th in the league. Sean Murray cant get into our side and he's a class player.
Without trying to sound like a wum the other night proved what I meant. You first 11 is very good but you dont have much else We smashed Bristol 4-0 the other week on their own patch and they was awful. I know in the championship anyone can beat anyone but IMO your back up/squad players are very average
lol...you've completely missed the point. We have strength and depth in the squad...none of us are worried about it, not quite sure why you are. Our back up squad, each individual player, is better than we've had for a long time...and we're proud of all players, most of them swap into the first team and out again, we rotate...it's a rotational squad and we're 4th so they can't be that average can they .
Well, when we beat you earlier in the season, we didn't exactly field our 'first 11' - and that was at home. We play better away from home, and next time at your place we probably will field our 'first 11'. As others have pointed out, Tuesday was a blip - one that wasn't exactly helped by six changes to the starting team. You've had your blips too - such as losing at Leeds, where we had managed a somewhat better result - winning 6-1 only two weeks prior
And if I recall BB, we made 5 changes for that game. But it is nice to see a Leicester fan so concerned about our squad and trolling up to express his concerns - funny how they have suddenly appeared? Looking over their shoulders and getting worried?
Ok. Whilst most of us agree that 6 changes was too many, the main reason for our failure on Tuesday night was Murray and Eustace having bad games, not our lack of depth. When your midfield is playing poorly the rest of the team is always going to struggle. Our best team goal, perhaps ever, was scored without Vydra and Deeney on the pitch.
