The problem with the OSC is that being both official and independent can't possibly work. There's plenty of room for a body which puts on events for fans and the OSC does that well, but because it's independent of the club people will always expect it to represent the fans and no behave as though it's tied to the club. It should really be part of the club and then people would understand its role better, although the club would probably make a mess of running it.
As for not including the tickets, City under the Allams have been doing this for years. Whenever they get a group of kids who've won a tournament to parade their trophy at half time (or whatever) they always end up having to buy match tickets. I mean, we even charge our own first team players who don't make the squad so we really shouldn't be surprised. This is what the Allams are. Spiteful, petty bastards.
"Whenever they get a group of kids who've won a tournament to parade their trophy at half time (or whatever) they always end up having to buy match tickets." You know what, that's almost even more disgusting than trying to change the club's name. What a pair of absolute and utter bastards.
Couldn't the OSC at least have stumped up for a couple of tickets if they think this competition is a good idea ?
The tickets certainly did used to be included. The kit was also included. I know this from personal experience.
Regardless of who or what to blame...(though we all know the root) It's shambolic that the 'winner' has to buy their own tickets. A genuine embarassment and if I was a member of said group, I couldn't put my name to it. I'd say it was the stain on the club, but given the current state of club, is this downright insensitivity even a speck? Under Pearson/Duffen I know the club gave out shed loads of tickets to The Tigers Trust and beyond. As a kid under Robinson/Needler/Chetham the club gave out shed loads of tickets. Simple courtesy, easy PR. As an outsider (who might possibly miss the finer points) it just seems that the OSC, whilst not exactly Leibstandarte, 'enable' the will of the regime rather than actually defend or stand for the genuine supporters of City. It's all as grubby as **** and I seriously question the integrity of anyone who stands for them, in part or in whole.
