System does sound ridiculous. Surely, it was possible to set it up so a maximum amount was not to be exceeded for a ticket. Potentially, pricing out families. A Dad/Mam might be able to afford 2 adults and 2 kids at cheapest price but not the same at most expensive. From the sound of it they couldn’t apply due to possible cost if allocated the most expensive. Prices may need to increase but never to an amount where ordinary families can’t afford to go even on a one off, occasional basis.
See, I understand (to a point) why some people might feel somewhat aggrieved by this. Selfishly, if it stops people from applying, it means I have better chance, but it would make sense to have an option for a maximum financial exposure option. I'd be happy to take the risk of a higher priced seat, however I'd not want to be considered solely for those tickets... I'm not a charity. If it meant me rolling a double £74 and those were my only seating options, I'd happily snap them up.
Why would you pay more to watch us vs Villa than Man U in the Cup final? I could buy the ticket and as many as I wanted but inc. my membership fee I am not ****ing paying £110+ to watch us vs Villa - if someone is, then great for the club but as it stand I won't enter the ballots and feel I should get my membership refunded as the club didn't mention any of this **** when I signed up. Even if you get a £44 ticket + your membership your paying £80+ with no guarantee you'll get another ticket this season, it's not on. I mean £80-£110 to watch a game of footy before you travel, pay for hotels, drinks, food etc? I can get a full week inclusive holiday to Europe for less than it'll cost to go to a game....
Wa so much better when all these ****ers pissed off on strike. You know all 1.4m that jacked their tickets in in protest of Ashley.
Not wanting to throw a spanner in the works but last season there was a small amount of tickets (5%?) held for sale to the non season ticket / non membership holders Has this been binned also? As I thought this was a PL rule?
Still there as far I’m aware. Club have ****ed up ticketing since day 1. Been a ****ing shambles. Still boils my piss they let some members get tickets ahead of season ticket holders for Wembley. The result was a really ****ing **** atmosphere inside the ground.
If Newcastle fans demand a club that tries they'll have to pay more .. I get the prices are higher , but they could always have a club that offers nothing but misery for 30% less in price.
Can’t follow your logic. It doesn’t cost anything extra to ‘try’. It might cost extra to improve chances of winning trophies but it costs nothing extra to try.
People aren’t complaining that the prices have increased! They are complaining as a lot of people can’t afford the high end tickets and they have no say which means they probably won’t enter the ballot. The club have screwed up on this and need to rectify for later games
Don't follow the logic? Look at the prices compared to who Newcastle are competing with. Newcastle fans were getting budget prices for a budget product and crying their eyes out to the world for 15 years. You can't have it both ways.
Good other people can buy them then... it's not the clubs fault they can't afford the product. Life isn't fair.
But they aren't just high - they cost more than a ticket to the Cup final 6 months ago for a league game. Even if that's truly your take on it, you have to accept that the club have not communicated this well and basically left it under 24 hours before tickets go on sale but a a week or two after they've taken 100,000+ memberships to advise you are basically unable to tell where you can sit at what price? The club have done SO SO well since the takeover in terms of all the off the pitch stuff like communications, pricing, tickets etc but this feels very much like something Ashley would have devised.
Perhaps they should start a Mike Ashley back protest. Seriously prices go up along with the quality of a product.
