Given that L*t*n are now in the conference and look likely to remain there for some considerable time, who do you regard now as your fiercest rivals? I guess locally you haven't got much in the way of league competition as Stevenage and MK Dons are a league below but who knows maybe next year!

For most of us, certainly over the age of 20, regardless of which league (pub or otherwise) Lootown are playing in, they were, are and will be our "fiercest rivals" - that is until they go out of business.........

I would suggest that many Watford fans quite admire the progress of Stevenage over the last few seasons (as we did with Wycombe Wanderers a few years back - when ironically they considered us their fiercest rivals).

MK Dons are looked upon with utter disdain - many Watford fans live in and around Milton Keynes.

QPR are probably our current rivals as we have been playing them far more regularly than the other lot in recent seasons - when I started supporting Watford in the 50's, certainly we had no love lost for the Hoops.....but it all pales into insignificance beside the mutual hatred felt between us and Lootown.

Colchester think that we are their bitter rivals but in all honesty no one gives a f*ck about them!

Local rivals is difficult when the teams are in different levels.

Luton see Watford as rivals Watford QPR and QPR Chelsea. Looking at a map Southend United and Colchester United are obvious but as johnnywarksmoustache says Colchester look to Ipswich Town and Southend probably look at West Ham United. Ipswich Town and Norwich City could be better rivals as they have been together more or less for so long. Perhaps Norwich now look somewhere else.

KA and Þór could be rivals as well but Þór are ina higher league so they see KR as the rival.

Will never happen, mate, they've spent that long living in our shadow that all they can do is hate and envy us, wouldn't have it any other way though!

We have no real local rivals at the moment - the dirty filthy tramps are where they belong (although I do miss a good tear up with the scum), St. Chavs are a flash in the pan with a average 3K home gate they are going nowhere, the Franchise Dongs should carry the disdain of very football supporter, their Child Catcher owner stole a football club...so until The Steptoe's get relegated we have no local rivals of any note.

Tractor chaps - please refrain from using the L word on this board...I would not use the N word on yours...cheers chaps and here's looking forward to a good game tomorrow..

    How is it said. Ribbing.

I can imagine Ipswich Town and Norwich City will always dislike each other like Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal Everton and Liverpool Newcastle United and Sunderland.

His youth career was at Town and he's a self-declared blue first and foremost..

Just one of dozens of examples of top players we've let walk away in recent years <doh>

We just don't fork out that kind of money for players though so even if he wanted to play at Portman Road I couldn't see us paying £3.5m. We could've had Billy Sharp for that kind of money.

i think you'll find they're tugging on your long lower limb ;)

Sadly, Scott showed a lot of promise at the beginning, went straight into the first team, and stayed there...U21s etc etc...but he lost his way a bit, and certainly lost his confidence...and now he's on the bench...and out of the England set up...it's a real shame. He had a dreadful season last season, so the money that Spurs were talking before that is no longer on the table, but his season has been better this season, though he's still fairly error prone, but then he's very young. I for one feel very sorry for him, i think he had too much too young and struggled to cope, and i also thing that our GK training seems lacking in some departments, as our No 1 (Scott) and No 2 (Gilmartin) both are accident prone, and fail to command their areas sufficiently at times.

Scott Loach went to school in Nottingham fella. And we signed him from Lincoln City when he was 17.

I dont think our manager rates him, so if any bids of £1m or above come in for him I reckon we would accept. We turned down £1.5m from Spurs in Jan 2010 but he was obviously younger and looked like he had more potential back then.

As for my views, I think he is a talented goalie who has poor decision making. I know that last sentence seems like Im contradicting myself, but you would understand after watching him for a full season. The annoying thing about Loach is that he hasn't really improved since 2 years ago, but he's still had more good games than bad. The odd mistake, I can take that as it happens to most keepers, but no improvement in the last 2 years??? That's hard to take TBH.

Careful Mitch you are straying into the area of questioning our GK coaching quality - you will get an avalanche on your head if you go down that road.

Morning all- big day in our house. Getting ready to take our customary 3 points off Mrs GG's team, but I said to her, in the spirit of not gloating too much, 'it's probably time for a change, you should win'. Was promptly told not to be patronising. Can't please some people.

Re local rivals, she was telling me that the Tractor boys on the back seat of the school bus used to sort of cheer on Colchester as Ipswich's 'cadet' team. This was Stoke by Nayland / Sudbury in the late sixties.
