A welcome 3 points - it can't be easy playing against an eight-man defence...

Back in the top 6 - unless Derby find a late winner at Bolton..

Given Donny's away record, that's a good result. Given how Paul Jewell described some of the chances we missed, could more shooting practice be needed before Saturday's game at Barnsley?

Towards the end, yes - but every time the camera showed us attacking before then, their defence was quite clearly set out in two lines of four across the park - must have taken a lot of concentration on their part to keep to that.

Have a feeling that what we had tonight is going to be repeated by plenty of teams coming to defend, hope for a breakaway goal, and see if we can break them down.

Phew. That sounded like hard work. A definite foul for the pen? Hornette having some doubt it was inside the box?

I didn't see the foul that brought the penalty as the stream froze on me. Jon Marks didn't seem to have much doubt and the WO don't mention that it might not have been in the area.

OK. Thanks Frenchie. Doesn't sound doubtful then. Seem to be getting a few more pens this season...

Deffo a pen for me. On the line at worst which I believe is part of the box. Felt after we scored first goal we could have gone on and got more, but they stopped us in our tracks. Anya seemed to be plan A and when they started putting two on him we struggled for a plan B.

I'll Take the win, but we will need to do better. Wonder how the conversation between Troy and Lewis went just before penalty, because you could see that there was no way that Lewis was going to let anyone else take it.

Lewis was right to take the pen (which i'm still not convinced should have been a pen), and i'm glad he did.

You must have had some cold snuffle in your eyes H - definite foul and definitely in the box as far as I could see. Fortunately, the ref concurred.... :)

I thought the Pen was in the box and it was given straight away by the Lino. Couple of players looked out of sorts and I am not sure about Doyley and Anya playing down the sme wing - Doyley does not move the ball out quick enough and too often cuts in a leaves Anya isolated. Deeney looks out of sorts and could do with some bench time. I thought Smith was steady for his age and experience, did not make many mistakes, but got lost a few times - but to be expected at his age. Murray looks a much better player this season and I would like to see him start.
And yippee, I predicted the result!

    Definitive proof

But we are still in credit after not getting so many stonewall decisions in the last few years.

Far too slow in the build up in the first half and too many passes going backwards rather than riskier but potentially better balls forward. Obviously improved second half in the main. Can't agree with wear_yellow on Smith as young or otherwise I thought he had a bad game and he doesn't have the ability (yet) to play as the defensive or holding midfielder in our formation or with our style of play. Overall I think we are still under performing against our potential but a win is a win and great support tonight as well.

    Was it in or out!?

    Looked pretty close..

Doesn't matter - after the slow 1st half (again) we certainly picked up our temp 2nd half and FF/Murray coming on helped.

Shame the midfield didn't have a great game at it was a chance for Smith/Battocchio to stake their claims.

Defensive wise seemed fine despite Alumina's error (albeit from a well struck shot)

Just need to find a full 90 minutes performance!
