The way we're playing at the moment we're not even that standard....went to see Rayners Lane on their inaugural floodlit game, they were more entertaining than us and they're Hellenic League!
Well until Sean changes his ways , or we get a new boss , get used to it ! the clueless way we play at the moment ,most teams will relish playing us and upping their GD
Let's hope SD finds a way to send a message to other teams that we're no longer going to be a walkover! I guess Reading must be feeling pretty crap lol
I have a feeling that Sean has lost the dressing room already , I mean we are usually a well reasoned lot , willing to give time etc , but look at the poll results at the mo ! pretty reactionary for us!
They don't play as a team at the moment and lack direction, no creativity throughout the side either!
any way up you look at it , were crap! and that has to change and fast ! as mentioned SoD wont be unemployed for long ,we need to act now ! we could bring in comparably cheaply a gaffer with a few years experience ! rather than relying on a rookie! we have got away with 3 times before , now pigeons are coming home to roost!
Steady on there norway - you've presented your two options - lost the dressing room or players not good enough - as the only possible ones, but they're not. Trawl through the after-match comments and you'll find another - SD's tactics. From what I read, quite a few on here think that changing them, especially to take advantage of the players' skills rather than the opposite, will improve things. Surely he should be given the chance to improve things via such a change, rather than be lambasted after only a few games? And correct me if I'm wrong, but did SD actually buy in the players? Yes, they were bought during his watch - but weren't they the result of our much-publicised 'model'? I don't think that he had the leeway to say "I want so and so" - his involvement starts, from memory, about six rungs up the ladder - making hard to say that "sean bought them in" IMO.
This team is the same team that started the season. They were good then, and playing really well, just not getting the results they very much deserved. In my opinion they now just lack confidence, which means that they need support, a boost, and the idea that everyone is behind them. For the fans to be booing was pathetic. We can pick it up, they just need to keep it calm, and not panic.
No - I simply think that he should be given the opportunity to recognise that he needs to change his tactics, not be thrown out because what he has tried to implement hasn't worked, especially after so few games. Just what sort of message do you think that would send to prospective managers/players - "I want it and I want it now, or else!"? Hardly befitting the reputation the club have tried hard to foster over the years. Admittedly only from what I've read, I get the impression that SD has more to offer than AB had - the ultimate one-trick pony - but tactics and tactical changes simply need time to take effect, they don't happen overnight. Simply because he took the job on, he deserves a decent chance to make his ideas work or change them.
Can somebody tell me the tactics SD has tried to implement? At the start of the season we were making chances but not converting them. Hence we were unlucky-things can only get better. Have they? No,we're not even making the chances now. We have been fortunate in the past promoting through the club or getting little known managers who have been successful. Now we need to decide....how long can we leave it before we change things at the top? IMO wait until after Brighton,we will then need to change things if things have not improved...be in the relegation zone in the new year I'm pretty sure we'll go down.
Well the only home game I've missed is the one we won (I promise to stay away) and I've also been to Reading away. I'm sorry to those who believe we've played well in any of those games but I think we have been ordinary at best, although Reading game did show good battling qualities. I remember supporters pointing to the Derby game as being a good performance with no finish. I have to disagree. Yes, Derby were fortunate to win with what was almost their only attempt at goal but the signs were already there that we do not have the players to break teams down. We were already lumping the ball forward to Forsyth of all people on an alarmingly regular basis and that just seems to have got worse. Players do not move. The number of times in the first half on Saturday Kightly attacked the defence only to have pretty much zero options. There are huge gaps between the players. There is no composure. How many times can your passes, such as they are, ricoche off the opposition legs. When Doyley starts 90% of your attacks you know you are in BIG trouble. Sordell is already dreaming of a move to Cardiff. Iwelumo could prove to be our biggest donkey for years. Also, I know we need something in attack but since when has signing a player on loan for a month just to get him fit for another club been a remotely good idea. You upset those who believe they deserve a chance, don't get the best out of the loan player and just when he maybe starts firing he's going back. I at least hope our players looked at the way he was willing to attack the defenders in the first half (before he got knackered/bored) but who am I kidding. Yeates and Forsyth will continue to cross from 30 yards out as they do not have the ability to take on players and poor Garner will continue to try and out jump 6'5" defenders for no reward. I am normally a much more optimistic person and patient and for that reason I do not think we should be making rash moves before Christmas but equally if something doesn't change soon we may already be adrift. Cannot see us being on anything other than 10 points off 13 games after the weekend. I truly hope I am wrong.
correct but why wait till brighton , what could possibly change between then and now without some serious tactical changes coming from the top!
