Agree it was a sloppy disjonte performce from nerly everyone. Looked slow in defence and lacklustre in attack till FF came on. Tamas had a awful game before his injury. Missed Deeney and Angella badly. Ref was poor too for both sides.
Tamas seems to be a liability as said before. I got to Heathrow at 2:15 and departed at 4:50, for once arranged connections properly and annoyed fellow travellers with hornets player Any idea why we don't play Fezzer from the start and sounds like Dyer should have stayed on.... When Troy isn't playing we need a motivating captain on the pitch, onwards and upwards other results didn't go too badly I suppose
Very poor display viewed from the LGT stand. There was one point in the game when we did appear to realise that we had the speed to get behind their defence and the whole ground picked up. People all around me, in the family stand and the Rookery were animated, but it didn't last long. Why oh why did we move forward with speed, then stop and play a back pass. Clearly there is a plan to keep the ball, but this only works when passes go where they are intended to go, and far too often someone tried a clever flick that went to an opposing player, setting them on the counter attack. We did get a point, but were lucky in my view. I don't know what my usual companion Jon Marks made of it, but he would have been at his best to have made much of this effort. Tamas looks slow and showed little quality. Ekstrand still worries me. Where has his form gone over the last couple of years? Vydra worked hard, but is not a Deeney. FF did little except fall over when he came on. Tozier shows great ability, but some of his passes were way off. Murray worked hard, but something still seems to be lacking. Maybe it's the system. When it came to the MOM award, I waited as I couldn't pick out any outstanding player. Maybe Anya who really seemed to get into the game in the last 30 minutes, but all round it was pretty dismal.
Very poor game........ lucky to get a draw .... and yes other results were helpful... BUT this should have been a clear win
Thanks OFH - a great summary. Rene Gilmartin watch out or your job of No1 summariser could be at risk!
What I'd describe as a rudderless performance. I've rarely seen so many midfield players looking unsure exactly what their roles should be. I'm not convinced that an uncertain back four is an improvement on an uncertain back five, though Cathcart just about deserved his MOM award and in retrospect it seemed incredible that Tamas was selected ahead of him. Our best hope is that this was a team without its new manager and its captain and that bred a lot of uncertainty. What's worrying is the apparent loss of form of players who not so long ago were exciting everyone - I'd include Anya, Vydra, Abdi, Murray and Ekstrand on the evidence of yesterday. I was very surprise Dyer was taken off. He was certainly more of an attacking threat than Anya. Are there positives? Well perhaps for the first time ever I predicted the correct Watford score - but then I'd really expected us to win!
Yup, was pretty grim. Dyer seems to me to be suffering from Adebayor syndrome. Managerless off the pitch, captainless on it I suspect that this performance was really to be expected. Far too many off days: Anya, Dyer, Vydra, Abdi, Murray, Tamas.... over half the team. Cathcart was a bit of a revelation, very promising performance amongst a bad lot. Got away with a draw. I am also convinced that Tamas was fouled before he gave away the penalty. The assault on Fessi would always be a red card for any referee worth his salt. Yet another numpty at the Vic.
Maybe why he didn't give Tamas a red? In some ways it might have been better if they had scored the pen? Would have woken us up earlier!
