For one game before he goes "ping" again for another month. I'm sorry mate its not unfortunate, its negligent. Like I said above, I've defended Redknapp all season against the naysayers but they were right about this. This situation is quite unbelievable. Why oh why did he come into this season with one fit (injured at the time) Striker and a pair of crocks who haven't managed a continuous string of games between them in over half a decade? To call it an oversight would be putting it very mildly. Its criminal in my view. Our whole season is going up in smoke because a critical area of the squad was totally neglected by the Manager. Like, what the hell was he thinking when he looked at the squad sheet at the beginning of the season? Was he even thinking at all? Explain that to me Grift.
Hitchcock not good enough IMO and still laughing when he scored a tap in and was declared a hero. Our midfielders have got to start scoring more. Austin done well but missed more than he scored yet he is a hero. We have let games slip I see it as that simple. Forest looked a lame display Foxes did us apart from that nothing wrong in the overall plan imo
When we have a player who can't even get on the bench who earns more than the entire team of Doncaster, we should expect to be vastly superior to them, as it is, we will be lucky to beat them at all. Being arrogant is expecting to win with average resources, not with the most resources in the league and the manager whos probably paid more than most of the rest combined.
I had completely forgotten about the American lad. Just goes to show the circus of a club we have become. Whats wrong with Wright-Phillips? Injured or just rumbled as useless? On a more positive note, don't we have Everton in the Cup soon? Will he a great day out experimenting with no recognised striker for that one
Its not unfortunate, it was expected. It was insanity relying on 1 striker and we are very lucky it happened now and not 2 months ago. Chevanton wasnt a loan, we could have signed him until January if we wanted but the idiot in charge decided not to.
You said that last season and we finished with 25 points. You said the year before we'd finish 8th and we finished 17th. Last year what was it, 5th? And we ended up in 20th. Oddball, I wouldn't listen to your forecasts if you appeared to me in the middle of the night, hovering above my bed in a sheet of bright light with a halo on your head.
I agree it's negligent, I wish we'd bought another striker. It's still taken a specific(and unfortunate) set of circumstances for the negligence to have any impact though, we've been covered for just such scenarios for the past 3 months by Chevanton. Right on the cusp of a permanent solution to our problems too- in the form of the transfer window. It's only going to have been for 3 games though, and if we can't get promoted on the basis of not having out an out striker for 3 games- then we don't deserve to be anyway.
Dave. The lads played & scored this season and zamora hasnt. On that basis hes good enough for me. Especially when we have no other options. If HR thought he was good enough to go on and score against Ipswich then hes obviously good enough to start against Watford???????
If it had happened 2 month ago we'd have brought Chevanton into the side, because that's why he was here- to cover for the lack of strikers. We're not going to extend Chevanton's contract a further 3 months for the sake of a couple of games. Then when we brought in another striker during January, Chevanton would've be sitting on the bench again leeching wages, and you'd be blaming the "idiot in charge" for it.
What do we want? Someone to come off the bench/ deputise for Charlie when he's crook, or a genuine talent to play alongside him? Harold doesn't seem to have any preference regarding the shape of the team from what I can see, we don't have a defined style apart from trying to keep the ball (as DT points out, a good starting point) so upsetting a non existent balance does not worry me.
Or he could have just had a 4 month contract which would have expired 2 weeks into the window. We needed 4 fit forwards anyway.
Oh, are you asking why we didn't sign him on a 4 month contract until the end of January? Well for one I've never heard of a contract that length before, Billy Sharp + Onyewu's deals were 3 months, so it seems to be par for the course. Secondly, that won't be down to Redknapp- it'll be Beard/TF or whoever arranges contracts. And lastly, do you think Chevanton would really agree to a loan deal that ends at the end of the transfer window? Giving him no time to find another club if the contract isn't renewed? I doubt he fancied being a free agent again.
