Trouble is mate, there is usually very little on offer in January and always very over-priced. Good goal scorers don't grow on trees.
It'll be interesting to see if we go for Nhaki Wells, the young, hungry type of player we should be looking at...
You're right, Col, in England certainly - I'm still hopeful with our owners' contacts we might find someone overseas. TF won't be sitting on his hands
Recall Hitchcock for starters and put him on the bench or heres an idea - start him up front with Austin (if fit) He's scored for us this season and is scoring whilst out on loan. What else does the kid have to do?
46 games in a season. Roughly halfway through and we are 4th. Granted we have only had one fit striker at the club most of the season so its obvious where our weaknesses lie. However, come May, and end of 46 games I still believe we will finish top 2. Not with the current squad as I can see some being off loaded including AJ, and Zamora purely because I do not think that they can add anything. Sell, pay off their contracts and invest in a young hungry striker and there is a someone I have in mind although I don't think his club will sell, and that is Danny Ings. He was good at Bournemouth and has come on leaps and bounds. If Rhodes is available then maybe put in a bid there. Or......if Jose doesn't rate Torres....maybe him on a 6 month loan with them picking up his wages? He is likely to get a good service from Hoilett, Barton, Phillips and Kranjar so what could we lose...........
Nhaki Wells (bradford) - hasn't he been out injured?? He was a name suggested earlier and a player we have been linked with before
I admire your optimism Grifter but in case you ain't noticed, we can't score. Why? Because we've got zero forwards. And the last time I checked, you cant win football matches without scoring goals mate.
Well AJ was quite happy to go back to Paralysis in the last transfer window so it could happen Zamora needs to go to the knackers yard and minced up into some Findus burgers - hes no use a striker who cant score Is Mo Shariff a striker? I thought he looked promising pre-season?
Welcome to my world. This sort of negative **** went out with Inter Milan in the 60s and Ray Illingworth in the 70s. But don't worry. Harry will sort it out. he's no fool. Where I have I read that cobblers? We are now in the market for a striker - anyone at all and at any price because of some crazy decisions in the last transfer window which , if memory serves me correctly only lasted from May to September. Clearly not long enough. I mean I can see exactly how difficult it must be to find any forwards at all in a 4 month period. And in the meantime, he got rid of all the ones we already had except for Zamora and Johnson. Clearly he had a trick up his sleeve. he must have because so many on here are ready to make excuses for him.
"Unsure when Austin will be fit" http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/anxious-qpr-unsure-when-austin-will-return Least it doesn't sound too bad
AJ is great IF fit which isnt often enough in this division Zamora is well past his sell by date and needs to be released. His sole job is to score goals and assists - he hasnt done either for as long as i can recall We loaned Remy out We let Cisse go Hitchcock is at Crewe Austin really is our only striker. It was entirely predictable this situation could arise and not having a Plan B is disgraceful management
I just don't want us to be saddled with players on contracts beyond the end of the season, when promoted or not, there will be a clear out.. And as you point out quality is hard to come by in the January sales.
Wake up and smell the coffee. It's no good simply banging out the same old line that we're not playing well but we're top/second/third/fourth. Forest are now only four points behind us. I'd actually prefer it if we actually started scoring some goals and winning games again, and not just hoping for a clean sheet.
Sod it, I'm joining the realists and recognising our dire form and current striker predicament is solely down to the manager.
Stick Ned up front, the CB playing up there for Forest scored against us. Or use Bloody Luke Young, he must be good for something.
Two games without a proper striker so far, probably three after the Doncaster match. We've then got 10 days until the next championship fixture (Ipswch A, Jan11th), by which time Austin will almost certainly be fit, and we may well have another striker. Probably AJ will be nearing full fitness by then too. I know it's irritating that we'll likely have had this spell of 3 games without a proper striker, but it is very unfortunate. Just as Chevaton's loan expires, Austin gets his first injury of the season...right in the few weeks before the transfer window opens. I'd like to see Hitchcock back, but lets face it- he probably wouldn't be setting the world on fire if he were here. People would still be saying "no recognised striker other than a youth team player...Grrr".
What do Cesar, Luke Young & Diakite do all week? Do they attend training sessions or just while away their spare time at the local Bentley dealership?
