Just got back. Great result. Good first 15 minutes then we were outplayed a bit. But quality showed through in the end and we were clinical.

However can anyone explain why, for the vast majority of my drive home, three counties radio devoted so much time to those losers up the M1 rather than our decisive victory. Definitely a bit of Bedfordshire bias. We are top of the league!!

When was the last time we scored 5 goals in one half?

Didn't see that coming but we'll take it.

Great performance from Deeney to break that run - early contender for GOTS.

Zola clearly did some talking at half time as we did let Bournemouth have the ball but we learnt and did what all good teams should do.

Made it back from the south west just in time and thank goodness I did!

Some worrying stuff in the first half but totally eclipsed by the second half. All it took was putting pressure on Bournemouth when they had the ball. It made such a difference, they couldn't cope with it and we took charge of the game. Great result.

'I think Watford, without Matej Vydra, will struggle to light the league up the way they did last year'.

Quote from Neil Warnock from last weekend's The Football Paper. Got any other predictions Neil <laugh>

Kit looks good on the player I think, better than i thought.

(sounds a bit gay the above but just an honest appraisal of attire!)

Just who I wonder will turn out to be the "big boys"? You can take nothing for granted in this division, unlike the PL when you know that if you have been promoted just about every game will be a struggle.

The quote from the man who still thinks we play on a ploughed field! I guess Mr Warnock is suffering from the first signs of dementure or maybe advanced signs, anyway I value his opinion as much as I do David Pleats.....

Back home, dinner done, and settling down to TV and a glass of wine.

Certainly wasn't expecting quite such an interesting first game. Not too much to admire in the first half apart maybe from Faraoni's touch, lovely control even when receiving awkward balls. Iriney played much of that half only yards in front of the back four and Abdi and McGugan played very conservative passes when they did have the ball. That said, Bournemouth play some neat football, were quicker to the ball and by half time looked the more likely winners. But how wrong can you be? A three goal burst completely deflated them and suddenly we were moving into space, upping the pace of the game and getting to the byline. I liked the look of Fabbrini when he came on, eager, ran at defenders, and no doubt will get better with the final ball. The back three are individually good but need a bit of work on who covers the angled ball behind the left wing back...we were exposed more than once that way. Much as I like Cassetti, he's been late into the tackle a bit too often of late and with a fit Hoban and Ekstrand might struggle to keep his place.

Anyway, 6-1 makes for a pleasant drive home. Onwards and upwards....

WOW that was a great display. We showed what we can do when we apply ourselves and switch on. The team is clearly full of talented players and there is plenty of help available from the bench.

The one thing I thought was missing last season was goals from set pieces, but three in 2 games from Gabi Angella seems to suggest we wont struggle as much this year.

Deeney was typical Deeney, a workhorse who never says die and scraps for every ball and shows a great eye for goal.

I wont mention every player, but its hard to find anything negative to say.

As for the 1881, it was a great first effort. I have lost my voice from all the chanting and I have a throbbing headache from the drumming. So I think it went well. I just cant wait for Forrest now..
