No argument from me, I'd be livid if that was an opposing player not being sent off. Just can't do that sort of tackle.
We're not out of this game by any means, all depends on the approach to the second. If we go into defensive mode we'll lose. Have to keep playing possession football and not let them boss us.
A good first half barring the red card, but no goals to show for it. Now we have to face our Achilles heel (second half) a man down. Time for every player to step up. Time for Shelvey to become a positive factor in the game. Time for Monk to use his subs smartly. Ki has been terrific.
Besides the red card , things look good , fab is fab in his handling , Taylors playing well , Federico 's confidence is growing by the minute . Could still get something from the way the remaining players are playing . Need a sub though , someone on for the ref . He was corect about Bonys red , but wrong on most everything else
Agree, and I would leave the team as it is and play without the striker, as we have plenty on the pitch that can score, if we are to make a change then it would have to be Routledge for Emnes or Gomis, with Taylor playing wingback!............
I'd bring Gomis on to smash the living hell out of Fonte and get him red carded. Ki is bossing this game too
Big big test for Monk imo. This is where good managers show what they're about and where bad ones are exposed. Do we keep doing what we're doing or do we park the bus? My preferred choice would be cavalier as I think Saints can be beaten, but it involves Ki being very very busy. We're dominating midfield so we need to keep doing that. Three at the back but sit Ki a little deeper to make up for it, bring off Fernandez and play Gomis up front. Switch out Routledge for Montero and we can have a go at them but still be solid.
