I thought Ayling did ok. He looked composed, physically commanding, mentally sharp when we were under the cosh, and of a higher quality than the opposition. I feel his influence on the team will grow as the season progresses.
I wasn't going to get up at 4:00 am to listen to the game so imagine my joy when I saw the result - just bloody marvellous! BBC Sport didn't have the match stats on their site so I want to know if El-Abd played and if so how did he look? Great start to our season and let's hope the positive boost from winning at Sheff Utd gives the entire squad a huge lift in morale because it certainly made my day, now down to the beach for a swim.
Hi Mike He didn't play and we certainly didn't miss him. Great team effort and wonderful result, although it's feet firmly on the floor until the next 45 games are over ! There was a lack of concentration occasionally, but this is the 3rd division after all.
A truly wonderful start to the season that tells me that the calamitous days of the past four/five seasons are behind us. I'm too long in the tooth to get totally carried away but I genuinely believe the good days will seriously outnumber the not so good.
Found it funny when he said in his opinion it should of been a drawer, and Cotterill turned up on screen saying we deserved to win didn't we looking straight at the smug twat.
One must not forget that Beagrie played two years at Sheff U, so he probably has some lingering affection for them. As I don't watch Sky Sports, I cannot comment on his ability as a TV pundit. All I can remember about him as a player was he had an irritating habit of leaving as defender for dead, the waiting for the defender to recover so he could beat him again, and again. Now who else do we know like that?
