I was quite disappointed with Gaston's performance today. He didn't do an awful lot except score and those 3 free kicks were dreadful. I'm a big fan of Gaston but this was one of his off days IMO. If Rodriguez hadn't picked up that virus we may well have won.
I think all three of our attackers had a frustrating games getting into good posisitons but failing to find the killer pass. Probably a combination of good WHU defending the conditions and just one of the those days. Out of all three though I though Gaston probably shaded it his chest down to an onrushing player I can't remember who was class. The problem with playing a team which sits back is you have to try lots of clever little balls to get in behind them and so inevitably a lot of those balls dont make it and the attackers look like they didn't play well which may be abit harsh.
Watching Football First and I have to say that Lambos effort from one angle slowed down was mighty close to being over the line, and Rambo had a real call for a penalty when he had his shirt pulled as he went into the area, the Commentator said their was a definite tug but you get away with it in this type of game? Why is that, it's a foul in the area therefore a penalty? Second half now on.
Well not a lot to say about the second half, the coverage failed to show several of JRods runs so you didn't get a chance to appreciate his contribution other than the run and shot near the end.
It was very close, but then so was the Boruc save against Reading. They also added that Hawkeye won't be 100% accurate either. It's accepted in tennis that it isn't 100%, but everyone has agreed to accept it...so no one argues. Bet football fans will still argue,
I didn't think I could like Mauricio much more, but then he said that West Ham "abuse the long-ball tactic". Well said.
I see our friendly Referee Clottenburg turned up at Reading and had forgotten to takes his cards, had to borrow a yellow from the Fourth Official!
Annoyed that Moyes was in the middle of saying nice things about us, when he was interrupted by that Liverpool guy saying doesn't matter whether it's short or long ball as long as it is effective. Keown also complimented us...saying how we've improved under Mauricio. All they said about West Ham was that they played the way Fat Sam wants (they may not have said Fat Sam).
If it's anything like the arguments I still have with my girlfriend with a GPS in the car, then nothing will change! She refuses to believe it knows what it's doing.
I'm off down the Office of Fair Trading first thing on Monday to tell them to prosecute West Ham under the Trades Discrimination Act. West Ham have lied to every body by claiming to be a football team.
Incidentally, what's the deal with Jos being 1st choice in front of Fonte. Don't get me wrong I love Jos to bits and he is good in the air, but again today it was him panicking that gave away the free kick that led to the goal. Fonte hadn't really done much wrong for me, and I think he is a better leader in the back four. Ideas?

I think we needed to play Jos today because he dealt with a lot of the long balls better than I think Fonte would have. I know he panicked for the free kick and on another situation where Carroll was put through (kind of) because of it, but he solved a lot of hassle with his aerial ability.
Perhaps MP sees all the good stuff Jos does and likes his physical presence, so is prepared to overlook the odd slip. He can only pick what he sees as our best CB partnership. If he feels it is not good enough, he can't do anything about it until the summer. We haven't lost in 5 games, so can't be doing too badly.
