Tiss made an interesting point. If Gaston's little push had been a defender on a striker would it have been a penalty...he doubted it.

We could have had a softish penalty in the first half when Yoshida was kicked rather than the ball. It wasn't much but the ref blew for something similar when Wilshere was fouled. I thought they also got away with a few 'high-foot' decisions that we were penalised for. Not complaining but on another day we could have had a pen.

Wouldn't have been to soft for me, Vermaelen wellied him and only got a toe on the ball after going through poor Maya!

One of those where I think it's soft but it's always going to be given.

Eh, I have an Arsenal supporting mate who said it shouldn't have been disallowed. I thought it was called for offside, anyway - saw the flag up ages before it went in, which is why I was the only one in the block not celebrating :D

It shouldn't have been. Perfectly legit goal. I watched it with Arsenal family and they all said the same thing

Just got back, thought we were excellent.Who got the Sky MOTM? I really hoe it was Morgan I thought he was absolutely tremendous, so many tackles, great use of the ball and ogod burts forward. Looked better than any of their "star 3"

Jack Cork got MOM; however I would have gone for Yoshida or Davis but great that there was plenty to choose from :).

And when the linesman put his flag up, he did a tugging-of-the-shirt motion. Had he not, then yes I too would have thought he was giving offside.

I would have gave it to Boruc, as he played ok for a person on cocaine.

Does he get distracted by the white lines of the penalty box? Worried about our keeping situation, I don't like the constant rotation (it looks like Adkins isn't sure either) and I think we have to pick and stick with one.

If we get another centre back it would be tough on Fonte or Yoshida to be dropped.

Very good performance from Saints. Defence were terrific - MOTM could have been any of them, but i would give it to Jack Cork as RB is not is usual position and he dealt with everything down his side + got forward.
I have had several txts from non-Saints friends saying that our disallowed goal should he stood - couldnt see from block 37.
Shame about Guly's OG as he played well again.
We have got 3 points out of the last 3 games but played well in them all and with a bit of luck could have taken a max 9 points. However well chuffed tonight. Onwards to Villa Park and a big, big game,

I knew instantly it wasn't for offside because the linesman waving his flag in the air and then pointed it at a 45 degree angle towards the Northam end. The offside signal is flag straight up and then pointing it in front. I will be interested to see it on MOTD as I thought it was soft. Very good performance and nice to see Theo applaud the fans and get a good reception. I thought Walcott was awful today as well!

Strange how that match will add to our "points lost from winning positions" tally- but who cares?! Excellent performance all around. Even if we fail to do much business in the window, I still think we have enough, barring injuries. If we buy well then who knows?
I was so pleased that we didn't concede in the last 5 minutes otherwise the whole thread would have been about Nigel costing us the game with the substitutions.
