Luke Shaw on Twitter: "So unlucky not to get 3 points today, but against a great team like arsenal I thought everyone was quality #saintsfc"
Happy days boys and girls. Ok would have been even happier if we won, but it's yet more evidence that we have what it takes to stay up. The goalkeeper question is still unresolved, but the turnaround in defence has been outstanding (been listening to Nigel). The transfer window is a minor tinkering job rather than a major overhaul. I know everyone outside the top 6 says this but there really is no danger of the media giving us any credit is there. If Arsenal scored five everyone would have shrugged, but our defence handled Walcott and then Giroud excellently, again. Still, if everyone else wants to think they are all crap then I won't complain. PS BBC live text guy reckons no one has ever scored three own goals against the same team in a season before. Now I distinctly remember this.
I am not sure who is the our number one, I thought it was a mistake changing keeper again today; however I am not sure it really mattered as whoever was in goal didn't have much to do.
Boruc was the only one I was worried about, the guy is clearly mental. Oh and fat, hence why he had to wear the xxl shirt that looked huge.
After the Stoke game I read a few match reports and gave up...they were all about Stoke's good record and how they'd kept it. I'm expecting this game to be reported as Arsenal not playing well, not being up for it etc etc.
Didn't let himself down, did he? So calm and mature...I think this is a reflection of our academy and team. Everyone is encouraged to do their best for themselves and the team and no one is going to bellow at them (unless they don't try)...this results in calmness and courage.
My understanding is that Boruc has lost just under a stone since his arrival.......He sure was shaky at the start....but as others have said he did not have a lot to do thankfully, although his handling was spot on after the first 15 minutes. It just shows how far the defence has come when a team of Arsenals calibre is restricted to only 6 shots on goal. The whole side put in a performance today.........Well done the Saints.......
Todays performance reminded me of when Strachan was boss. Solid, eveyone working so hard, and enough quality to cause teams trouble. If these last two results don't galvanise the team then I don't know what would. Not of course that this has been an issue, but the belief that we can survive must simply be there amongst the players. Will be very interesting to see who we sign in the window, players making it hard to be dropped at the moment. Anyone know what the injury to Clyne is, and how long out etc?
Very happy with that. Not seen the disallowed goal but it was a game where my best hope was to not be embarrassed - instead we outplayed a very good team on hot form. Shame some of our fans are ****ers, but hey ho.
The only pity is that we could/should have had 4-6 points and then we would have been sitting mid table.
I called the foul straight away. Without it, I don't think Gaston would have been able to have got the shot away.
