****ing hell, what a day! Got up at about 8.00 to get the bus into Town. Pint in Spoons. Early train to Preston with a few tins. Off to the pub. Avoid the police escort WE'RE LEEDS UNITED, WE'LL WALK WHERE WE WANT. Pay on the gate. Into the ground. Plenty of Paddy Kenny praise; he was probably our best player. Plenty of askew Warnock tactics which led to an uneventful game. Still, three goals to the mighty whites. That'll do. Few unimpressed natives in town after the game, but **** 'em, they're only Preston. Come on Leeds, let's ****ing smash the Wolves first game of the season. Four good signings of true talent and we'll be there.
Read that too, and I can't help reading it in my head with a Jamaican accent. No matter the result, I personally don't see being outplayed by a mid-table league 1 team as a positive. I can see that we have the base of a solid, hard to beat squad, but if we want promotion we desperately need the 3/4 players of real quality Exodus was talking about and I just don't see where they're coming from.
This also worried me, I tried to tell myself that we were resting Drury and we have Austin and Peltier to come but that still doesn't fix the total lack of anything creative. Even if Austin does make a bang and runs the show it won't take long for the opposition to work it out - We need someone else with a creative spark and pace.
I just love the way that people who were not at the match are making it sound like they know what happened. We were not "outplayed" by Preston, we were very creative at times, we scored 3 cracking goals, we prevented them from having opportunities, we were kicked and hacked all the way through as to be expected from a League 1 team, in a proper game they would have had a large number of cards and players possibly sent off giving a completely new complexion, we played with 5 new signings starting plus Kisnorbo, and then there were lots of changes. You are so depressing.
Your opinion - Compared to another who went along and said we were awful and the worlds media who say we were not very good and I along with a few others listened to it on the live stream and from what I heard it did not sound good. Rose tinted glasses
You talking about chip van man? Was drinking all day and not been able to follow up what he originally wrote? Go on. Sources please. I note you say "the world's media" so I am expecting some bloody good, well renowned sources.
Look - we are never going to see eye to eye, we have had more than a few run ins on here, the biggest difference between you and I is that I do not slate people who have an opposing opinion to myself. I believe I say things as I see them, others may do the same. I do not have a problem with your optimism or anyone else's, I just do not share it. I am optimistic about certain aspects of the team, not blinded and believing we are the finished article. I look at facts such as no funding and no money to bring the icing on the cake players in. As I linked and quoted in another thread, it was only a few weeks back that you were having a go at me for being too optimistic. I don't really understand what your problem is, you seem adamant on being controversial with your constant little digs, innuendos and swipes at anyone who dare have an opinion, quite sad really. Were you at different games by any chance? can someone put the chip pan out sounds like he was at the same game I listened to on Ustream, the same game that the media reports today are saying the scoreline flattered us and we were outplayed for the majority of the game. If not maybe this uneventful game? I am not going to go through all the reports that I have read and anyone can google for themselves just for you to attempt to pull it to pieces because the reporter dare have a difference of an opinion. Everyone knows what your are about Elmo, I used to think I hated you, I don't, I pity you and your need and desire to argue with those around you. Is that why you no longer use JA606 - did the hatred towards your argumentative ways get the better of you in the end? Shows how this is just a personal thing for you then, Simon is far more negative/realistic? about our chances than I but you aim this at me, sad really...
So the only source you have for backing up your opinion is someone who had been drinking since the morning? I watched the game through beer-free eyes. Where are these "world's media" sources who say we were no good?
i was there. I have been going since 1977 and the cupboard looks as bare as it ever has at this stage of the off season. I would challenge anyone to objectively say that we looked a team frrom a higher league than PNE yesterday. I have not read any reports or seen the stats but I know what I saw. If we dont get some more qualityy innto midfield we are mid table at best. BTW i am not convinced Bechio is the player he was in 10/11
I wish we were Farsley; it appears some are choosing not to back the team, players or manager, before they have even kicked a ball in anger, and are trying their best to bring doom and gloom to our season already
I'm sorry mate but bullshit again. There is a huge difference between realism/pessimism and not backing the team. Just because we're not choosing to be happy clappers who think Warnock is some kind of omnipotent promotion god doesn't mean we don't back our team 100% just like anyone else on here.
On contrary Simon, you appear to be looking for any reason to complain. We have taken in 10 new players, they need to be given the time to gel together, but all we get is moaning instead of looking at the possibilities. The bullshit is coming from you - you are not being realistic, but rather unrealistic. Who thinks Colin is some kind of omnipotent promotion god? That kind of argument appears to be the same as the "it's either Bates or Ridsdale - which do you want?" argument, complete tripe and is just looking at extremes rather than looking at gentle upward progress.
