I think frustration is the word I would use rather than disappointing, we have had a much better season than most of the pundits rated us! I only hope we can keep the nucleus of the team and build rather than strip the team.

The beauty of the current team is that very few of the "senior" players are in danger of going. Obviously Danny is an exception, and there will presumably be tabloid tittle tattle about one or two others.

But if Loach won't leave unless he has a chance of starting, he won't be leaving this season. Taylor, Mariappa, Eustace, Doyley and Deeney are going nowhere. Would be shocked if Cowie or Buckley go, and while I'm slightly less sure about Sordell, surely we aren't stupid enough to sell him and Danny in the same window. Throw in some of the more experienced youngsters who can do a job if needs dictate, and we definitely have something to build on, with or without Danny.

I think we have had a good season all things considered. If we can keep the squad largely together and get a full back or two and get Loach out of his doldrums there is no need to slit our wrists :)

still grounds for optimism , mainly from the academy , we are now only starting to get the end product out of that system! The quality can only get better as everyone involved with it learns more!

It's great that players as young as Murray and Hoban got 60 odd minutes today.

In my opinion it's extremely important that at least one of the best first year scholars gets a taste like that each season, and it's no bad thing if he struggles physically. The worst thing in the world would have been if this group of first years, widely believed to be our best ever, had gone into the summer without any of them having an idea of just how brutal the step up is going to be.

The Academy is definitely our future - I just hope Baz realises that too

Goes without saying we care , but I`m still not convinced that Baz cares and if thats the case ,then at best he is an intermediate stop gap at worst an asset stripper!
and looking at the list of companies he has closed................

Very disappointing...obviously the boys were missing my input! However, we were tipped for relegation and finished two places higher than last season, that's got to be a positive. The squad are knackered, they've worked their socks off for us this season, and on the whole they've done us proud. Well done our Golden Boys...next season, if we can keep the basic squad, and bring those academy boys on, we're on for a better season yet! :)

Very disappointing today. Still, young Hoban was pretty assured and Murray was lively.

Nobody mentioned the aeroplane flying round Deepdale trailing a banner "Poor Little Preston. Enjoy playing in League 1" - obviously commisioned by a spiteful and minted Blackpool fan!

Went up to the game today and in my opinion it sort of summed up our season overall, minus a goal from Danny Graham

    - We started off well with a goal from a loanee, the first few months of our season being aided by loanees Taylor and Mutch
    - Taylor becomes injured and goes off and our defence begins to show some clear cracks, we've had a strong reliance on him as a rock at the back
    - A mistake from Loach although i heard there was a deflection but i didn't see it myself, yes he's had good games but this has happened this season
    - Several injuries to strong players i.e. Taylor, Graham and even Murray!

Not all negative though! Murray looked promising and generally this team at its best is able to and has proven to be up there with the best of this league...albeit we may lose some as we've all agreed.
(I'm happy to be shot down if you disagree :) )

Hello Greg I think yours is a good summary shame we couldnt end the season with a result! I think we have just run out of steam at the end of the season ,too many people off form or carrying knocks! especially when you note we have only used 27 players this season , but sides use in excess of 40!!!

The impression I got once Taylor came off was that Hoban was the better of the two centre backs, Hodson the better of the two full backs.

Is it fair to say that Mariappa and Doyley made individual mistakes, or do you think the lot of them were disorganised, and Mariappa and Doyley just happened to be the fall guys?

Hey Norway :) and yeah it definitely is a shame but in recent seasons we always seem to have issues playing against the lower table teams, Peterborough recently! we've managed 10 points out of a possible 18 fro the three teams relegated this year?

NNW, well it was clear that as soon as Taylor came off we seemed to drop back and 'absorb' the pressure albeit badly, as for mariappa and doyley making mistakes... I'd say it is a little harsh to place the blame down to individual errors so maybe group disorganisation would be the right way to put it. Fair few slips on what seemed to be quite a wet surface and a lot of tracking back from our 'attacking' players would add to disorganised
