Hmm, okay, well it was a long way away, so i'll go with Jon Marks Deeney was the only one who was getting the ball...the fact that we couldn't keep it was painful! Garner would have been a much better choice i'm sure, and i'd have swapped him in for Sordell, who was also very off the pace today...and seemed to pick up a knock just before the substitution
Hard lines today Watford fans. A very bizarre sending off indeed, was a poor finale to a hard fought match. Good luck for the rest of the season.
From BBC report: "But Loach went from hero to villain when he was sent off for dragging down Futacs outside the box."
It was flattering to Watford, not to Pompey. It could have easily been 4 or 5 - 0: Possession Portsmouth 50% Watford 50% Attempts on target Portsmouth 7 Watford 2 Attempts off target Portsmouth 7 Watford 1 Corners Portsmouth 9 Watford 7
From the referee: " a red card after adjudging the keeper had handled in the process of going over Kitson." Regardless - you still deserved your win
Loach did come rushing out of his area BB - where was your defence ? They left him completely exposed. Don't know where Kitson was, it definitely looked like Marko Futaks to me that was running with the ball. Other than that, thought Loach played well in goal for you
My take on the game; I thought it was a very poor, low-quality match. Pompey created the much better chances of the two teams though, so thoroughly deserved the 3 points. Loach kept us in it at times, producing a number of very good saves! Now the officials. I thought they were extremely poor, and didn't work very well as a team. I don't think they affected the result at all, and by no means using it as an excuse. I just don't think they were a very good standard! There were a number of occasions where they didn't seem to agree. There was a decision where the ball went out, the ref had a great view to see if it was for a corner or throw, and looks over to his linesman on the other side of the pitch! As for the sending off, my view it looked very harsh. The striker seemed to run through Loach, and Loach losing his balance hit it with his hand. I think most refs would have given a foul to the keeper there. I hope we appeal.
I wouldn't bother risking it, he could get an extended ban if you are unsuccessful. And in all fairness, it was either a foul on Futacs (debateable) or a handball. Certainly grounds for the red card...
If it's just a 1-match ban, then I doubt we will appeal it, and play the Kepper who came on in the FA Cup... but personally thought it was a foul on Loach by Futacs. From where I was, it looked like Loach was already going up to head the ball out and Futacs ran into him. I haven't seen it on TV yet though, so only going by seeing it rather a long way away....
From "highlights" on SSN I think a normal ref would have given a foul on Loach! I would think that if we needed to ,we could appeal successfully ! However if we were going to play Bondy anyway then not a lot of point appealing ! Yet another very dodgy decision that could have been corrected with technology in place!
It's worth an appeal. I was on the other side of the pitch and my first reaction was that Loach was fouled.
From my point of view it's not a risk. If we succeed, a cloud hangs over the result of the match. While that doesn't matter in the wider world, and while in all honesty Pompey deserved three points with ten or eleven men, the injustice of two key decisions in the only two games we've lost in three months would be a good mental tool for Dyche to use. If we fail, we can give young Jonathan Bond a run of games. At the same time, it would be clear to Loach that he has our full support, and he wouldn't be being dropped for Bond to get playing time.
NNW has it right again ...and for what it's worth, most people seem to think Loach was fouled...i haven't seen it yet though...should be on the bbc by tomorrow i'm guessing, if it isn't already...
I was right in front of the handball outside of the area -and it was plain as day. He had to go. ...and the Lawrence goal should have stood. Good result considering the dabacle at the Vicarage only a few weeks back.
H you have to register on them so give them an email address you hardly use ,coz they do generate a fair bit of spam
