Very good 1st half performance with loads of chances created but didn't finish them. Nice free kick from Murray. Sloppy play for their 2 goals. A decent game all around. Cracking atmosphere.
Having lost their three previous Championship matches, Peterborough twice came from behind to deny the Hornets all three points. Peterborough striker Troy Deeney cancelled out Lee Tomlin's early penalty before Sean Murray restored Watford's lead in the second half. Taylor secured a point, pouncing on Tomlin's pass and firing into the net. With neither side concerned with promotion or relegation issues, this was a contest that lacked bite. The result may have done more to wound Sean Dyche's hopes of guiding Watford to a top-half finish, with Peterborough seemingly content to plan for a second successive season in the Championship. Peterborough made the better start and their early dominance was rewarded when they won a penalty in the 13th minute. From the BBC. Not the game I saw!
That is just pure and utter tripe. It just shows up how bad some journalists are and how dangerous it is to pass judgement on their say so.
So if palace beat cardiff and Mboro beat us cardiff are out of the play offs , thats a bit of a issue for next saturday.
Nothing like a bit of spice in a game - there could be a couple of thousand northerners weeping into their scarves next Saturday.
Be 2,500 I think. I did hear a story we might have given them the whole Viccy Road end but presume not.
It was handball!! Boyd slid in and pushed the ball away with his hand. The lino was in a great position to see it, but bottled it. That summed up the ref really. Yes it was a head injury, but Hogg got straight up. Never a pen according to some, including Nos. He got the ball and his trailing leg caught the player. He and the post were their saviours. We hit the post twice and he made 3/4 great saves It might have crossed. It happened so fast, so not sure. We were singing "that boy Troy Deeney, he hates the police. But he was laughing and was in good spirit. The ref game a penalty, but the linesWoman gave a free kick against their defender for an apparent push. So the ref overturned his own decision!!! Evening. Just back from a great day out. It was great to see H, Barry, Vic and W_Y. We had a lot of chances to win the game but were unlucky with 3 penalties not given and hitting the post. Deeney's goal was a tap in with the ball bouncing around the 6yrd box. They were all over the backs of our players and shoving elbows in faces, but the ref was blind to it. Once again the ref ruined a good game.
Still not convinced the ball crossed the line, and as the Football League Show didn't focus on it, we can assume it didn't. I beg to differ too Yorkie..to be honest, it wasn't even close to a fair result. We had at least 2 good penalty shouts (though Dan will tell you 3 )...and we should have been at least 4 or 5 up in the first half, having a lot of the possession and some great chances, two of which hit the post. We should have won, that would have been a fair result..but sadly...and for the first time in a long time, the result was a disappointment. Having said that though, we played superbly in the first half, and it was probably the best half we've played all season...and kept up with the game in the second half, and we have a hell of a lot to be proud of today Oh, and Whichelow did very well when he came on...he seems to be a bit of an enigma...for us he plays well, yet his loan spells have been a bit of a disaster...how odd!
The BBC report was indeed a shocker. Apparently we restored our lead with the Murray goal. How can you restore something that you didn't have in the first place?
Just saw their second goal on SSN, it looks like the deflection from Dicko put it in the net! Good strike though!
This is Dyche's view of the pen in the 2nd half. I wonder what will be said as he tries to get to the bottom of it. I would not like to be on the wrong side of him!
Had a great day yesterday, and although we didn't win we played exceptionally well. Atmosphere was fantastic and the ground made me think I was back in the 70's. BBC report doesn't surprise me, in the papers today P'boro player was mad man of the match. I'm not sure that there was a Boro player in the top three best players yesterday!!! Murray was my man of the match.
Did make me chuckle. About the only thing they got right was that the game took place at London Road!
I know this is a few days old now, but i have to post this pic. It proves beyond doubt that the ball DID NOT cross the line! I have just seen Nos's challenge from a different angle on Late Kick Off (east) and it was 100% NOT!!! a penalty, he wraps his left foot around the ball and Taylor kicks the back of it instead of the ball and then falls over!!
