At the beginning of the season isuspect i would not have been the only one to think, Hey we could win all of these!
Feeling thoroughly glum although I think some peoples reactions have been OTT. Whereas after most games this season i've thought we aren't a million miles away, yesterday, however was, a new low point. I still look at the team man for man and am happy that the players are good enough but we have no leaders on or off the pitch. How much of the off pitch influence of Eustace played a part last season in bonding these players together, we also need a leader in the middle of the park and we don't have it. Out Captains Almunia and Deeney are both liable to sulks and due to the positions they play aren't ideally place. Yesterday after conceeding the first we need a centre defender or centre midfieldier to take charge of the team and tell them what to do. Abdi is a concern and its almost worth taking him out of contention and get him right for next year, nobody will sign a player who has a recurring year long injury until he has proved his fitness over a period of time.
Am not one to slag people off but what really upset me yesterday was the smug reaction of that wee Scotsman Billy Davies, I don't know why he just grates on me. I actually prefer hollowhead!
I have to agree can't stand the man. Git! as Ron Weasley would say. As to events on the pitch, yesterday's capitulation was utterly pathetic. 5 of the worst goals ever scored in that match. Shocking defending by both sides. And absolutely no leadership in our team. Eustace indeed!
I hope this was not one of those "turning point" matches where confidence is damaged and a bad run follows. Of course it could have had the opposite effect had we won.... But what is wrong with this team? Individually talented but the whole so much less than the sum of the parts. They contrive to lose games from winning positions, lose to "lower" teams (sorry Yeovil) offer no resistance to "better" teams (have to call Leicester that)--so disappointing. Can we hope that two or three new players, untainted by whatever malaise the current lot have, will make a difference? Get them on the pitch and give it a go. The present team have had their chance and failed. Up to Bepe to sort it out rapidamente.
