45 minutes when we showed them how to play and now there are comments from City fans who believe that their defence is very weak and they should go out and spend big time to get some decent players in. "Don't go to play City unless you expect to get robbed" "Lucky to not be a lot further behind at half time". Think we did give them a fright.
Don't you just love the comments on the WO. "Fair play to the team but that's another 45 minute showing. Regardless of how many of you reach to press the 'dreaded, all powerful' thumbs down button, the team gave in again when the going got tough."
Disappointed to hear City fans say that. The ones I see when they come down to Wembley are still pinching themselves and enjoying the ride. It's not good when your first reaction to an exciting game where your team got out of jail is spend spend spend.
ITV news pathetic. Just mentioned the result in passing as if it was any other game. Said City came from 2 down but that was it.
Teams can't deal with Jamie Vardy and they keep taking him out. He is just too quick for defenders in this league
Really? Teams couldn't cope with Vydra last season as he was lightning quick but they did not foul him. Stats show your being given more than average awards in the penalty stakes and it seems to be benefiting you along the way.
Vardy is probably the quickest player in the league. Vardy uses his pace and has kept his non league style of play while improving immensely over the last 12 months. Just when you think Vardy is going at top speed he just finds another gear and that's making defenders commit and there getting nowhere near the ball. Vydra was a very skillful player so defenders was more cautious and Vardy is a lot more direct and in your face
Teams can't cope with the pace of Anya, goalkeepers keep bringing him down, but do we get awarded penalties? No Bournemouth players do swan dives in the penalty area, do they get penalties? Yes Something not quite right there....
It is strange being a City fan these days. It is still hard to accept that we are slowly turning in to a World elite club. All respect to Watford today, but I was never worried how the game would end. The quality and fitness was always going to shine eventually. Please don't diss City for finding the unlimited cash cheat button as we have really done our time at being rubbish over the years. After all it is only a few years ago that you all jumped on the notoriety and wealth of a certain pop celebrity. I hate the money involved in football these days but it is here to stay. Anyway. Bloody good effort by you hornets!!!
I think we all anticipated the outcome - I would not have put money on us winning even if we had been 2-0 up when 90 minutes passed - you have the players to do anything. Please though don't compare your billionaire status to our days under Elton. He put relatively little money into the club and we did not buy our way to success. It was achieved by the combination of his support and the excellence of Graham Taylor as a club manager. Man City are simply a money machine. They will continue to buy players and managers to achieve success. we cannot complain as that is the way football has gone but is the Premiership really as exciting as the old First Division used to be. Not for me. NOWatford will ever again rise out of the fourth division to be runners up in the top in just a few years. Good luck to your lads though.
We had a great day out..... 2 nil up at HT and we were in fairyland... or something similar.... However we knew the second half would be a different game and it was from the outset....... All credit to our lads for an amazing game....... and stalwart defending in the second half.... Unfortunately Bond let on go through him.... and Anya blasted over at the other end..... Watford supporters were superb. Players great at the end...fought with their backs to the goal for most of the second halg.. completely gutted but came and gave shirts to the fans. There are a lot of positives to take from this game.... some really great passing play in the first half.... we ran rings round 'em at times COYH!!!!
Thank you for coming on here suggesting that we did at least perform well. Your manager is quoted as saying that he was worried at half time and that was shown by the subs that he made. At the end of the day your spending of more than £225M was just too much for our £600,000. Many of us dislike the money in the game today, and has been pointed out Elton basically invested in the ground development and little in the team. When you see the money lost by clubs on players wages alone, you realise that no business, and that is what football has become, can continue for ever in that way.
A comment from our coach. "In the second half Manchester City were unbelievable and showed us their full strength. I tried to change things but the quality of Manchester City is far superior than any change you can make tactically." Just about sums up what happened perfectly. I wonder if that is the translated version.
Having had a truly wonderful 60 minutes- not to be forgotten in a long time, I was puzzled by the substitution of forestieri by Cassetti, rather than (say) Fabbrini or abdi. It appeared that we had no outlet as deeney on his own was unlikely to get the ball, so City kept up the pressure. city in the 1st half were as toothless as any poor Championship side - I was really surprised, but the speed of our play up the pitch was a joy to behold. Murray and Battochiop played like 2 kids in an icecream parlour , and it all came off - wonderful stuff at times. City's defence without Kompany and Zabaletta is poor. One 2nd half incident when Kompany crossed the pitch to (our) lh side to stop Anya showed astonishing speed. all in all, a great day out, shame about the result, and a tragedy for bond, but I hope we encourage him when we next see him on the pitch.
