I noticed that - and you had a good cross which was cut out by Pudli. Maybe our luck is changing a bit....
Queenie - read the comments of the Watford fans ... it will help balance perspective between reality and what you would like to be the case ... yes you did watch a 'different game' I'm sure ... one where your views were, I suspect, tainted with the bias of wishful thinking ... Watford came with a game plan to blunt our attacking edge and it worked very well for forty minutes and they deservedly went two up (perhaps a question of offside for their first but nevertheless they deserved the lead) but the second half was a completely different story and the least we deserved from the game was a draw ... they were desperate for the final whistle and we could have snatched it at the death with the Nugent chance mentioned ... Now I'm not too disappointed with that result because it keeps our unbeaten run going ... now its over to you guys ... pressure really on ... whatever happens at Derby one of our chasers is going to drop points ... and as I found out last season, much to my frustration, whenever the leaders, Cardiff, dropped a point the chasers (us for a long period) never really seemed to take advantage of it ... and they ended up winning the league quite comfortably ... now I'm not saying that will happen this season ... but I do think it is better to have the points in the bag and be prepared to scrap like we did yesterday to keep the momentum (and unbeaten run) going ... it will take a phenomenal winning run to overhaul us, and in this division that's going to be a real tough feat to accomplish ... because teams are very capable of frustrating you as Watford and Blackpool showed this weekend ...
............. and not only that, two teams will have to go on that phenomenal run to stop us getting promoted. Winning the Championship would be a bonus, but promotion is the goal.
Did you hear that the Pozzos have banned their players from owning dogs? Because they can't hold on to a lead
Well boys, I watched the highlights on the FLS last night and it looked an entertaining game. A very good point for you in the end. Keeps you nicely ticking over. I suppose you'll be hoping for a draw between ourselves and Derby tomorrow night? Or would you prefer a County win? Drinkwater's goal was superb. Just wondering, is he of native American origin? He sounds like an Injun from one of those Spaghetti Westerns. Sitting Bull, Roaring Bear..... Danny Drinkwater
Cheers Swords. Yes a good point for us and another that takes us a tiny step closer to the finish line. 16 left and counting down. I think for me, I'd like a Derby win which would pile the pressure on your lot incredibly.
I was quite impressed by Watford actually, embarrassing play-acting aside. They defended very well, but having watched Drinkwater hammer them in in the warm-up before the match, you kind of thought he might do that anyway. Goal of the season contender IMO. Wasn't an especially good performance but very nearly won it in the last minute with the best move of the match (James' run that was blocked by a last-ditch tackle). Nugent always seems to have a poor game when I go to watch, but good to see that Nigel changed the formation and brought on Wood and Phillips to try and get a goal. Only our 4th draw this season.
I saw them against Forest when they let in four pretty straight forward goals to let a 2-0 lead slip. They were OK first half but were awful second half. Typically, they defended much better against us.
It depends really, i guess it would keep it more a 3 horse race, so yeah would pref a QPR win, need Burnley to drop some points, but they really do have enough goals in the tank to win most games.
Aye, I'd take a point now all day long boys. Its a Sky game as is the next one at home to Reading. I'd be over the moon if we could get 4 from those two games. Do you think a team will make a move and come from deep this season? There's normally one that puts a run together and gets right up into the thick of it for the last few games. Maybe Brighton could still find some form and make a dash?
Not a bad shout ... they have some very good players and a promising manager who seems to have just started to get them playing as a team again after the disruptions of players going out and coming in post cup final ... they have talent in players like McLean and McManaman no doubt
I suspect we were more prepared/organised. We got caught out by Forest actually having 3 strikers on the bench to bring on quite quickly whereas they started with a defender making our lives fairly easy. You still have chances though.. Personally I'd rather we went for more goals than wasted time but we all see it done. It cost us in the end though.
... the best way to defend the lead is to score more goals ... I've never been an advocate of trying to hang on to a lead by chucking on more defenders ... so often come back to bite you on the arras
Yeah, late runs in the Championship don't usually effect the autos, just gives a team good form going into the playoffs.
Nowhere near as many as we're used to. And I think they were tougher than some people realise now I've seen them again (talking of replays, I'm not convinced your first was offside now either which what everyone though on Sat). I hope that's as bad as the MOTM curse gets, but to say we were poor simply undermines how hard you load worked.
