Dicko is always the first...and always makes an effort at the end of the match too...he's a rabble rouser and is going to be a firm fans favourite Thanks for the scores Al, seems it's all pretty much as i would expect it to be...
that's good to hear. In the pre-season he was sluggish, but he wasn't match fit...i'm thrilled he showed promise!
Im gonna have to waste some more money and come over to see again , but against the saints we were clueless! and it sounded like that in the first half this evening and against palace!
We were outplayed in the first half, simples! They hardly had a chance in the second half and if we had got one I am willing to bet we would have gone on and got something from this game, alas it was not to be and I am not giving up on anyone except Iwelumo!
luck i am a believer that you make your own , how many pens have we had ? how many times have we had the rub of the green?
so far Dicko is the only newbie worth his salt and better than what we had , (coz we didnt have an lb) the rest the jury is out imo ! but I need to be fair the streams the reports and reviews may have been wrong the saints may have been a one off , we may be sitting on a bunch of world beaters (somehow doubt it ) But am now trying to schedule another match in soon ! In the interests of being fair !
will be having a little holiday from here going to aberdeen soon then maybe a quick sunshine holiday to Doncaster! I admire your loyalty to Sean but I remind you that the continued welfare of the club is more important! Be interesting to see if Baz has the balls to make the tough decisions!
Have you considered that it may not be in the continued welfare interests of the club to get rid of SD?
Watford didn't have enough chances to score. We could have been 4-0 up at half time if it hadn't been for Beckford being offside and Loach's superb save.
I agree that we tried to take the sting out of the game and play it out but I'm not sure we went about it the right way. Usually, you should slow the tempo down and pass the ball with simple passes and move the opposition around. We didn't do that - we were too sloppy when passing and almost let Watford back into it. Thankfully they weren't good enough to capitalise. But I can understand why we did it with another game in 3 days but we should have done it better but the players will learn from that and it was comfortable win. I was impressed with the movement off the ball which is key in games like these when you have to break down teams and Nugent and Beckford seemed to have a good understanding together which is promising. The full-back were also better and got forward a lot more and Konchesky in particular had much better delivery than on Sunday and it was nice to see him get an assist. Johnson would actually be my man of the match. At the base of the diamond, he dictated the play and picked out passes that started our attack well and him and Wellens were very good orchestrating the play and you could see they were on the same wavelength with their passing and vision and those two (Johnson particularly) added that creative spark that maybe we've been missing. I think it remains to be seen whether Johnson has the defensive capabilities to play that deep and whether his tackling is good enough and maybe in the bigger games I'd play him further forward and play someone more combative and a better tackler (i.e. Abe/Fernandes) but in these games where we have to break teams down, I think Johnson at the base orchestrating the play is the way forward. But it has to be said that Watford were very poor. They tried to flood the midfield and deny us space but they were very undisciplined with the way they did it and left plenty of spaces for us to exploit and there was no pressure on the man on the ball which allowed us to pick our passes with consummate ease. 2nd half they improved but, for the most part, we kept them at arms length and saw out the game comfortably. We'll need a similar performance against Millwall and it was encouraging because these are the sort of games we've struggled in so far so, hopefully, we can get another three points.
I think you omitted the words "at the appropriate point in time, not after a mere quarter of a season."
