Got to say i agree with Hornette and BB - especially in the first half Ipswich were letting kicks fly at our players and the ref reckoned it was okay. The penalty was a certainty but the ref hasn't got to that part of the rule book yet. Having said that I'm a little concerned about Jokanovic's comments as if the players were kicking long balls and he doesn't want them too, then as the manager he needs to sort it out on the pitch. Also he needs to understand that the championship is a physical league (which is why McCarthy always does so well in it - bit interestingly not so in the Premiership) and so there will be times that our players need to scruff it out and so need to be more prepared to do so than they were yesterday against a very physical Ipswich team.
Reading through the Watford posts it just smacks of sour grapes! Watford have been bullying us for years at Portman Road and you have a reputation for being one the dirtiest most cynical teams that we have to play in this league. In the past we just let you bully us but now things are very different as you found out yesterday. Your time wasting antics in the first half were designed to slow the game down when we were on top and I lost count of the number of times your players hacked down Williams. The referee was very poor and offered Williams no protection at all against the brutality of some of your players especially Ekstrand. How he remained on the pitch is beyond me! On reflection A hard fought game and the better team won on the day.

And of course the four times in the first half alone when your players were caught on camera kicking/throwing the ball away as far as possible after conceding throw-ins when Watford were on top was entirely acceptable? And your forwards deliberately baulking Gomes to stop him clearing the ball upfield, yet complaining when he took a little longer than they liked over taking goal kicks - I take it that too was acceptable? No doubt you missed all that - too busy counting how many times Williams fell over or looking the other way when Forestieri was hacked down...
I didn't know Ipswich was in Lancashire now. These sorts of mindless bigoted comments are typical of our Northern mates, not rural Suffolk. "Watford were the dirtiest team to visit our hallowed turf". "The referee let Watford commit numerous really dirty fouls, whilst penalising our gentle taps". "Watford were the poorest team to visit us all season". "Watford have only one tactic - lump it up to the lone forward/tall striker". "Playing Watford has taught us how to commit cynical fouls". "We have been bullied by Watford long enough". blah, blah, blah....etc. etc. Give it a rest you blue chumps, please.
I am very surprised to hear we were so physical and dirty but then we always seem to be accused of it against Ipswich. If anything we get the soft and wimpish tag.
You boys might want to check out the Championship fair play league, based on fouls conceded cards etc etc, you guys are pushing for promotion whereas we are in danger of the drop, for me that kind tells its own story on who likes a kick at the opposition!
Never been cooler jwm, never been cooler. In case you didn't realise I was paraphrasing some of Town fan's comments.
Vic really needs to sort herself out mate, never read such a load of bollocks, and I occasionally visit the Budgie board.
I really like Mick McCarthy and I think he got the tactics just right against us, Ipswich edged us throughout the game. Fair play to him, a typical honest championship manager!
absolutely, it's just because we're they're bogey team and they struggle to accept we're usually better and win! Amazing they think they were learning from the hacking teachers when as you say, we're usually the soft, fall over for no reason, team..or at least accused as such. Most bizarre comments from them..you'd think they'd lost!
Watford committed 18 fouls and got 3 yellows, Town committed 6 fouls and got 1 yellow, so that works out about right. Poor Ref? I think most people who were there would say he could have been better whichever side of the fence youre on. Williams getting kicked out of the game? I think most fair minded football fans would say that was disgraceful and should have been a red card. After alls said and done Town scored Watford didn't, so its the right result.
