Two goals aside, it was a pleasing display from our team. The way we conceaded the first goal was really dissapointing and i believe MP will be furious, we were way too soft, Coleman should never have found himself in that position. Second gol was weird, our whole defence went missing and i can't tell what exactly happened there, but it was also inexcusable. Other than that, it was a good performance overall. Fonte and Lovren were immense once again. I'm ready to give credit to Chambers for once; his energy levels are enormous, game after game he runs relentlessly up and down that right flank, chasing the ball, taking up his man, I was impressed. Though I still think Clyne is a more capable player, it's great to know he has so able a deputy.
Kelvin had a reassuring performance, nice to see Saints goalkeeper not making a single mistake.
Cork, JWP and Davis all had decent games and against some other, slightly less good team than Everton, ther abilities would be enough to muster points from the game. But against the top teams we need our first choice midfielders, Wanyama and Schneiderlin, to be competetive.
Lambert, Lallana and Rodriguez ran out of steam a bit, I think. There wasn't as many runs into space as usually, and even Lallana had some poor touches on the ball. It's very important that MP finds a way to refresh the team ahead of the Chelsea match.
It seems that the league table is divided in two groups; in the first there are title and europe qualifications spots challengers, and in the second group all the rest, with us leading the charge 4 points ahead of the nearest team. I don't think that relegation will become a real concern at any point of the season. So i think we should all enjoy are next matches without any real pressure, wait until our main players return form injuries and then hopefully our team will start to pick momentum once again, like at the begining of the season.

So last season up to March we were better than average.
This constant claim that we don't convert just isn't true.

Who mentioned average? I'm saying, as was Joe that we miss a lot of chances. We do. And what about the while of last season? If I recall correctly last season I looked up the chances stats and we created more chances than every team we played bar one under MP, but weren't winning the games; suggests we miss chances.
And Vin, if I read your chart correctly, our conversion rate is nearly half that of City??? Well, that's not really good is it?
EVERY team misses chances, so yes, you're right, we miss chances. Man City miss nearly 80% of chances. They're sh*te.

Good grief how on earth was that a penalty? His arm wasn't outstretched and he had no time to react. Some people on here need to learn the handball law.

Just wanted to say how pissed off I am with the biased nature of the media. I probably should have had this rant three weeks ago though.
Our team has been decimated by injuries just at the wrong time and we have lost some significant players, and others have had to play out of position, but have the media really explained our dip, which although can be explained by the better teams we are playing, the real reason is the injuries. Gazzaniga seems to let in most shots on target.
At the Spurs game there were some Spurs fans in front of me, who said it should have been 6-0 to them if we hadn't scored our flukey goals. I did point out that they were best goals in the game and asked them how many 18 year olds were they playing when they said they were decimated with injuries.
What really pisses me of is that when a United fringe player has a hair out of place it's reported on R5L as an injury, when Saints have injuries to some key players it's hardly stated. Also they report some Saints players as winning their regular place back - they haven't it's because the best player is injured ie Hoiveld and Fox

Wowzers, just zipping through MotD2, during the highlight of Adam's almost wonder goal, where he flicked it in between two defenders and then just snatched at the ball when shooting the commentator says "There was nothing particularly intricate about that', and merely criticised Lallana for not putting it on target rather than mention the incredible bit of skill to even get him the opportunity.
*EDIT* Also watching their second goal, it seems it was poor JWP who was at fault for that one as well, he was the man who allowed McCarthy to run completely free from deep. Forgivable for a 19 year old, and to be fair to him I didn't think we were set up at all well defensively, in terms of our shape.

The problem is everyone defines handball differently. Even refs do as we have seen through out the years. Just because in your opinion it isn't handball it doesn't mean you are right in everyones view.
Now that's move on as this **** is getting boring.
Watching the goals this morning gastons was a wonderful strike but because its saints it won't get shown many times, but if Rooney scored that it would be shown every 3 minutes for the next 7 weeks.
Probably Ramirez' best 20 minutes in a Saints shirt (or 2). But I wonder whether Everton would have scored their 2nd if Cork had still been on (or Wanyama/Schneiderlin for that matter). I saw that Mikey that ought JWP should have tracked back but maybe we should just put it down as an excellent, counter attacking goal.
A very good performance overall with Davies looking more secure than Gazza. Certainly no blame with the second goal although on another day he might have got a hand on the first. It would have been more luck than judgement though.
