Absolutely delighted and chuffed to bits. We've done it again boys, another European trophy comes to the Bridge and we make history at the same time. First and only ever team to hold both these European trophies at once. First and only ever English team to have won four different European trophies. Never a dull moment as a Blue and for all the right reasons. We rode our luck in the first 20 minutes and didn't create much for the rest of the first half, but we got back into it in the second and got our reward for taking our chances. Great composure by Torres to finish off our first goal, similar to his one against Barcelona, but with even more quality this time. Was very stupid of Azpilicueta to ridiculously throw his arm up like that in the box and give them such an easy penalty. Was honestly thinking we'd blow it from there on, but that winner's mentality is with us no matter which manager or players we have. It's just a presence that lies within the club. When we got that corner in the final minute of stoppage time I looked and saw we were into the 93rd minute and remembered that Benfica lost to Porto on the weekend due to a corner in the 93rd minute and just knew we were gonna score. Brilliant movement by Ivanovic in the box and an even better header. Drogba would be proud of that goal. Was gutted for the Benfica fans, players and manager to see them as they were at the end as I know just how awful it is to lose a European final and in those circumstances it must be dreadful. Even worse than it was for Bayern Munich last year as Benfica will really struggle to get into another European final, let alone win one. Commiserations for them and I wish them all the best. Gonna celebrate long into the night though as times like these don't come around often, but with us you never know what's around the next corner. KTBFFH!
Also DL, I think its fair to say that Cahill made you eat your words tonight and you're probably glad too. That last ditch clearance was as important as the goals we scored. Denied Cardozo twice in that single moment. He makes his mistakes, but you have to admit that in the big games and on those big European nights he puts his body on the line and delivers.
