Coz after today, we'll be fighting, and we're much better at home anyway. We can beat anyone at home, especially teams that underestimate us
Our manager,Nigel Adkins, never underestimates our opponents. The art of war, never underestimate your opponents that's what Adkins says lol.
LOST PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM'S DEFENCE IF FOUND PLEASE RETURN TO VICARAGE ROAD, WATFORD Oh God what happened there - now I've got to face all the Palace fans who come out of the woodwork once or twice a year at work - thanks a bunch defence!
I know the feeling - my last visit to The Vic was against Palace two years ago, the 1-3 debacle. I made the mistake of using the train - which on the return trip was jam packed like the Mumbai Express - and had to stand all the way to Edinburgh. I got stuck next to three gloating Palace fans all the way to Newcastle & couldn't even move away from them, the train was that full.
Blimey BB that makes me feel better - at least I can tell the ones at work where to go - legitimately as I'm their boss - getting stuck on a train with the only Palace fans north of Wapping is awful.
For me....other than the uninspiring performance by Iwelumo and Garner up front, Eustace and Hogg were big contributors to our downfall. Ok....it was defensive errors that gave Palace all their goals, but we didn't score any goals because we didn't push forward. In the first 20 minutes it was great...but as the game went on Hogg and Eustace did nothing but pass sideways....neither of them are willing to move forward (and I won't say they are not able to, because when you have 15 yards in front of you to run into anyone can do that) and prefer to do passes which rarely do anything for our team. Kacaniklic was the only player with any guile for most of the match. But he is young and only one man....he disappears in parts of the game (not sure if that's down to him or down to the players around him...wouldn't blame him when Eustace/Hogg only pass sideways and Iwelumo doesn't manage any passes at all). Massey and Yeates brought some much needed forward thinkers and pace to the side....and for me they both have to start next game (unless Deeney is fit). Iwelumo is not up the this level of football any more, and Garner needs more support as he's not good enough to do the job on his own. Forsyth...well....he can score some crackers but other than that he is slow and has a poor first touch. He can rarely be utilised....we need players who attack, Murray was sorely missed....but Yeates would have done a much better job also...not too sure why he's been snubbed for so long. The problem of Eustace and Hogg.....for me it's really annoying, because it's not down to ability....it's down to their mindset. Why can't Dyche just drill it into their heads that they need to go forward with the ball!? You can still move forwards and try and do one of your fancy passes if you want...but standing still all game when you have the ball is not going to get us goals. Buaben would definitely solve this problem.....but I have seen the Hogg and Buaben partnership and it doesn't work either. Buaben disappears from games and leaves Hogg to do all the work. So..we have someone with attacking flair and pace who does nothing defensively, and someone who is our captain, dominates the centre of the field and chips in with goals...but refuses to move forward. Defensively...I think it was just a bad day. Can't blame Loach because it was terrible defending, but he didn't have the greatest day either. Could have saved the first goal, had a few shaky moments (such as when he didn't come out until after 5 seconds of waiting and almost let it become 5-0). The team need to sort it out at set plays.....and I know we scored from two against Leicester but for me we need to sort it out at the other end too. We have big players but never threatened Speroni all game from any free kicks or corners. Iwelumo can't handle it....and Forsyth's liabilities do not make up for his strengths. How can we fix it?..well I think we desperately need players like Deeney, Murray, McGinn and Taylor back in the side. Our squad is too thin for injuries....Deeney is our main striker, Murray is a creative spark, McGinn is a forward thinking (but still industrious) midfielder, and Taylor is a commanding centre back... really I would have all four of these guys in our starting XI, so it's been a big blow. But other then that....Dyche could ask Eustace and Hogg to move forwards....he could play Yeates and sub on Buaben earlier when we're losing, work on set plays.....and get someone else in on loan...either a striker, an attacking midfielder or a winger.
It does show we cannot just rely on our defence to be solid each game..and next week will be a tough test as well so really do need more attacking threat. Probably says it all that we're relying on Deeney up front who is good solid worker but not great and young Sean Murray!
good plan...i haven't managed to get to my twitter feed yet..not since lunchtime! i'll catch up when i go to bed
Yeah, i even got a thumbs up from Loach and Rene. When i said come on Haywire and good luck Rene. I would never dream of booing or making a public display of dislike. After all, they are better than i could ever be.
Even after all the progress and the development of the squad and the ground and the club on the whole. People are just fickle and some will never be happy
it's quite ridiculous...at the end of the day, we still don't have big money to spend, what do they expect??
