It seems that GFZ told Sky that he would like to keep him for the rest of the season. Possibly the key word is "like".
Some fans are less blinkered than others. The comment from a Brighton one stands out amongst the moans and groans. "Just back, bad day at the office I think is the term. Outplayed by a team playing a style of football that Gus would love us to play. Watford's passing was quicker, crisper, more accurate and the movement off the ball into space was fantastic to watch."
It's nice to be noticed for the football we play rather than the number of players we have on loan OFH. Perhaps the hacks and pundits may also take note..
Gus Poyet may not think that racism is a big deal, but give him credit where it's due, he didn't try to make excuses. He said that Brighton were okay and Watford were much better. If we outplayed Manchester United, rednose would probably accuse us of trying to execute one of his strikers.
We have had some very good players on loan in the last few years (Johnson, Foster, Cleverley, Lansbury) but Chalobah might just turn out to be the best of the lot, both for us and in his subsequent career. Let us enjoy him while we can.
Fluked the viewing of this one when Xmas visiting friend with Sky. First time seen us this season. Obviously heard about the passing and movement but great to see it. If Man City make a few changes and we play like we know we can, who knows...
That is a nice thing to have, the only downside is that we can only go 5th if we win. There are gaps opening up now and even as we win they arent closing. Its the worst situation for us to be in. We really need to take points off those above us when we can, and hope that they slip up and allow us to gain ground.
I agree - if someone had offered us this position at the start of the season the majority of us would have bitten their hand off. Did anyone really see us mounting a reral challenge this year or am i the only pessimistic Watford fan??????
Ok fair enough, I just think its a lot tighter than some are making it seem. One defeat could mean that we are level on points with Forest or Milwall, and possible then 8 points off 2nd and 4 off the next team. Im not unhappy though.
I expected us to finish in the top ten, i.e. challenge for the playoffs but fall a little bit short. And that was less pragmatism, more a feeling that the only justification for sacking Dyche would be for the new man to improve on last season. For us to have even an outside shot at automatic promotion is the stuff of dreams for me. I do understand where you're coming from Dan: when you watch us actually play, see how good we are, and consistently too, the sky really is the limit. But as a fan of a club that has been so mediocre for so long (and has done too much too fast on the rare occasions where we had a team), I just want to enjoy winning games in style for as long as possible. I could take or leave promotion this season: if we carry on like this, it will come before too long.
Good to see the negativity in supporters hasn't gone ffs there's realism and outright pessimism someone here reminds me of morrisey now wheres the tree and rope?
We are now playing the sort of football I always hoped we would when we were instead treated to hoof ball by Aidy. I miss living in Watford so much at the moment - TV and the internet is just not the same as having a season ticket and knowing you will be there every week
Yes I miss it as well, the walk down Vicarage Road, the smell of the chippy and the burger vans. The state of the road surface down Occupation Road that never seems to get any better. The look of hope before a game starts and the banter between people who don't know each other except for the meeting for a couple hours every fortnight. This season is different, one that I really would wish to be at every match, but over the years I have suffered so much disappointment and frustration that I lost that feeling. Living away became easier even if Jon Marks became my only real contact with the games. Now the very occasional trip is something special. The planning takes time, the cost is excessive and there is no certainty that at the end of a game I will think it all worthwhile. I really am working on another visit before the season ends, but give up my life here is not something that I want to do, even if I have to pick up the bits and peices on football that come my way.
My intentional self exile to Norway (for pension reasons mainly) may last another 5 yrs or so , but then I would like to spend some time on a canal boat possibly not to far away from watford so I could go to a lot more games . As a teen and early twenties used to go to most home games and some away ,had a great time. Would be nice to be a "regular"again. Might be less snow and be a bit warmer too .
