Watch the highlights, they were all good saves. You couldn't remember ANY good saves a moment a go, so I do wonder whether that selective memory is simply to justify being negative? Two of our subs were enforced, leaving one free for an attacking option (Should have gone to faurlin rather than Jenas). Those options were a youth player, and a guy who's first training session with the club was on Thursday (and who performed poorly on Saturday). You're knocking Harry for not putting those guys on? It would have been counterproductive to weaken our midfield, whilst it was winning the battle.
Lies damn lies and statistics. We had 3 shots on target and they had 1. I remember a free kick which you would expect a decent keeper like Kuzack to save and the scrappy goal mouth scramble. I doubt Kuzcak has had many easier games this season. Your scrapping the barrel to the extreme by picking up on the number of fouls they gave away. How that influences how much someone deserves to win a game I don’t know. I’ve got a season ticket but was at a wedding on Saturday so gave my ticket away. However I’ve seen enough of a trend in the other games this season to know that we don’t look like scoring goals and don’t think missing one game makes my opinions less valid. And it would seem that Harry has recognised today what I’ve been saying by coming out today and saying he intends to play Kranjcar in behind Austin (note he isn’t just bringhim in to where SWP played) Of course he may play Henry as one of the 2 deeper midfielders and drop ONeil but that’s irrelevant. My gripe isn’t against Henry in particular it is that we are overly defensive and last nights formation unsurprisingly produced a performance devoid of any attacking threat. With AJ out and SWP having to play ahead of Hoilett and an unfit and not yet match sharp Phillips on the right Arry didn’t help things by putting behind that a huge gap back to O’neil and Barton and the redundant Henry behind them. We will win other games and do better as Kranjcar, BAE and Philips get fit and AJ and Hoilett return BUT last night was 2 points dropped against a team with their best players injured or suspended and a squad that does not have the same depth as ours
It wasn't a good save, neither was the fk, they were saves you expect a pub keeper to make. The youth player who score in his ten mins spell this season, the loan player who redknapp played in the wrong position? He could have bought on Carroll or Hitchcock for Philips and gone 442 or 4231 and moved the totally ineffectual O'Neill out wide.
Don't go there mate, your on the wrong forum for that rubbish. Only people who are at the games have an opinion, lots of forums out there where you will be welcome with an attitude like that, here really isn't the place for it which is pretty much why we have a great oversea posters. I rarely feel I shouldn't justify myself but as it was i wasn't expressing an opinion about the game, which i didn't see, I was simply pointing out that people are still moaning despite us being top of the league, some people are just going to moan whatever happens. Wake up, look up..Yes thats us on top, a night where we went top of the league you want to turn into a Harry is crap, doesn't know what he's doing thread. Yes we need to improve but I'm pretty sure HR can see that.
I can ... Green made a great save from a thunder shot in teh first half and if you think the save from Barton's free kick was easy then watch the highlights. How can you miss those? apart from the game of midfield chess these above were the main points of the match What has happened Flyer? Do you need help my friend?
You see, right there is exactly where I think some fans are losing the plot entirely. I thank you RTID for saying what you've said as it illustrates perfectly the lunacy of some of our fan base. Not content with hopefully winning promotion at the first attempt (only 25% of teams do - 75% don't), people are already thinking how this team might have certain shortcomings in the Premier League. Absolutely and unutterably ridiculous. Who on earth do you think we are? Manchester United? Arsenal? For God's sake, if we scrape into 6th this year and win the Playoff final by a ricochet off Dunne's arse, it will be an unbelievable achievement. People thinking of next season in the Premier League, I'm sorry to say, have little knowledge of how football - specifically English football - works. Remember, the reason we failed so miserably the last two seasons was because we took the promotion squad apart and filled it with "superstars" supposedly good enough to grace any Premier League team. And all the while Norwich and Swansea were keeping their promo squads together and just adding a bit here and a bit there to supplement what they already had. I didn't believe it at the time but Oddball was so right: Its all about momentum and team spirit. If guys think we've a divine right to walk this league and use it only as a series of pre Premier-League friendlies in order to get ourselves ready for City and Chelsea, then they must have been on the dark side of the moon for the 15 years it took us to recover from our last relegation. Seriously lads, I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I read this kind of nonsense.
No offence mate but with an attitude like that, I'm glad you did. I suggested the same to another couple earlier on in the thread.
A long, long way to go yet. If you're not happy with our start you need your head feeling. 17 points from 7 games is automatic promotion form and despite us playing uninspiring football we're getting the job done. There'll be times when we play well and lose, count our blessings that we're in the hunt...
What on earth are you on about? You baffoon! Where did I say that we should field 12 players? Best read it again.
You said we should play Henry but also Carroll but didn't mention who we should drop. There's a lot of armchair managers on here these days giving Harry Jip but not offering up credible, alternative solutions.
Read it all. I explained exactly how to play them both in the same side. Unfortunately it goes straight over your head.
Exactly right. People are saying that the back four looked comfortable............that's because of the protection afforded them by Henry!
Ok........just for you Swords... We could have left out Oneill, played Barton and Henry as two holding midfielders and put Carroll ahead of them as the attacking midfielder. Put Phillips and SWP out wide and Austin up top. 4-2-3-1....worked pretty well last time we won the thing! For those who don't like 4-2-3-1 we could have played Henry as the single holding midfielder with Carrol and Barton in the centre, the same two wide men and Austin up top. Carroll would have played off Austin in a No10 role. Happy? Anyway, I'd like to add that my criticism of Harry's selections was probably a little out of order as we are TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!
